Everyone's talking about the September 2026 EYFS safeguarding changes, and there's a lot of muddled information flying around.
Here's the honest picture:

September 2025 brought in the Designated Safeguarding Lead role, Annex C training criteria, and the 2-yearly training refresh.

September 2026 adds more β safer sleep and safer eating in the statutory framework, stronger device policies, whistleblowing extended to volunteers and apprentices, and absence follow-up systems.

Ofsted starts inspecting against the updated framework from 1 September 2026 using its refreshed early years toolkit.
