Holly, who is one of the founding members of Q***r Kinship Coventry joined us at our recent supper club. It's was lovely to receive this review from them: 'Last Friday I attended my first ever Supper Club at the Pod and it was a truly magical experience. Each attendee had the privilege of sampling such a beautifully curated menu of fresh and fulfilling dishes, that warmed the mind, body, and soul. Christine was the most wonderful host, ensuring we all felt comfortable, welcomed, and nourished, as well as providing us all with the opportunity to learn more about the work of the Pod and its associated projects (Food Union & Time Union). Entertainment was provided by the charming and talented Amit Dattani, who performed some brilliant originals alongside powerful renditions of other works. In the spirit of the Supper Club, I came by myself and had the pleasure of meeting some lovely new people and learning more about their individual joys, passions, and beliefs. It was so enriching and unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. I have told all my friends and family (and, anyone else who will listen!!) about the Supper Club and I look forward to attending the next one. Thank you very much to the Pod for creating this space, and ensuring it is accessible to all!' Do scroll through to see the photographs they took. The cafe coordinators that co- hosted the supper club were Jeni and Angela, but all of our cafe coordinators played a part in its creation, especially Donna who invested time and love in creating the tirimasu. It was a simply wonderful evening and really important to us that people that join us at the evenings gain a deeper understanding of our core work.

Mad Youth Organise will be joining us at Politics & Pakora
This powerful campaign, led by young people with lived experience of mental distress and madness, argues that mental health isn’t just an individual struggle — it’s a systemic and collective issue.
Their Mad Youth Manifesto, written by 25 young people with lived experience goes right to the core of this crisis:
• It calls out Big Tech, Big Oil, private healthcare and exploitative landlords as profiting from our suffering
• It demands a fairer futurethrough measures like a “Big Tech Tax”—a 4% levy on their profits to fund youth mental health services — and a broader “Misery Tax” on industries fueling the crisis
It stands for decommodifying essentials like housing, healthcare, education and energy, and pushes for deep democratic change, including lowering the voting age and giving young people a real say in policy
At Politics & Pakora, we're creating space to listen, learn, and for critical debate together. We’ll discuss how systemic forces have shaped the mental health experiences of young people—and what we can do to build a future where they thrive, not just survive

Date: 1st July 2026
Location: The Pod Cafe, 31 Far Gosford St
Time: 18:00 till 19:30

These gatherings are free (or you can PAYF if that makes you feel more comfortable) Spaces are limited. You can book a space by emailing [email protected].

We wanted to share this lovely feedback from Olwyn who joined us at our Supper Club last Friday.
On the recommendation of a friend, I booked a place for myself and two others for the Pod’s Supper Club on 29th May and I’m so glad I did, as we had a great time. A delicious three course vegan meal, was slowly served throughout the evening, accompanied by wonderful live music from singer/songwriter Amit Datttani. Shared tables gave us the opportunity to meet with others, who because of difference in age and background, we would probably not meet in our usual day to day life. However, the relaxed , warm and friendly atmosphere of the Pod, enabled easy conversation. By the end of the evening, we had had a lot of fun, had shared stories about our lives and had exchanged ideas for involvement in the life of the city. Having listened to Christine ‘s introduction during the evening, about the Pod, it is clear how the cafe effectively supports its core work, through fostering connected, compassionate communities, where people can live, contribute, recover, flourish and thrive .
What an impressive initiative.

It's so lovely to get feedback, but we have to agree it was a magical evening. . Photograph taken on thf street of The Pod Cafe at night time

As most will know now Coventry City Council achieved a GOOD rating from the Care Quality Commission following the recent inspection. The report is now live on the website and it's great to see that in the relief summary they state 'The Coventry Dementia Partnership Hub and The Pod were positive examples of a preventative approach which promoted people’s independence and wellbeing' thank you to everyone that met with the inspectors, who shared their stories, and completed the surveys. .
