One of our service users, Julie, enjoyed a brilliant morning recently at Haltwhistle outdoor swimming pool with the Tynedale Centre 🤗

Julie was a little unsure about getting in at first, so everyone was very proud when she took the plunge. She spent almost two hours floating in the pool and even got dunked once or twice, which she found hilarious 💛

A lovely day out for Julie, with plenty of smiles, laughter and a real sense of achievement 🥰

One of our service users, Julie Foster, recently enjoyed a memorable visit at Tynedale Centre, when a member of staff brought in lambs from their farm.💛🐑

She was a little unsure at first, but with support from care support worker Sophie McGinley, Julie took her time and soon felt comfortable enough to get closer. By the end, she was happily stroking them and even stopped for a few photos 😊

A lovely session, trying something new and building confidence along the way ✨

🌟UPDATE🌟

Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training is being introduced across Nupath Care.

Oliver McGowan was a young man with a mild learning disability, autism, epilepsy and cerebral palsy. He died aged 18 following failures in care after being admitted to hospital. His family campaigned for changes to improve understanding and care for people with a learning disability and/or autism. This led to new legal requirements for staff training, which came into force in September 2025.

The training focuses on:
• understanding learning disabilities and autism
• effective communication
• promoting independence
• person-centred care
• recognising and responding to individual needs

Our Training Manager has completed the accredited programme and is now a registered facilitator, working alongside co-facilitators with lived experience of learning disability and autism.

Planning is already underway, with the first sessions due to begin in April.

This forms part of our ongoing work to strengthen practice and improve outcomes for the people we support.

Service user Lee Parker marked Valentine’s weekend with some gorgeous baking!🥰🍪

With support from the team, he rolled out the dough, cut heart shapes and added a spoon of jam to each biscuit before they went into the oven. He was proud to present the finished batch once they had cooled!

Activities like this help build everyday skills in a relaxed setting, from measuring and following steps to working safely in the kitchen.

Well done, Lee. They were delicious! 😃

One of our service users Lee Parker recently enjoyed a lovely night away supported by senior support worker Kerry Archibold 😊

Lee and Kerry visited The Twice Brewed Inn in Bardon Mill, staying in one of the cabins and dining in the restaurant, where Lee enjoyed a Christmas meal. The evening also included a talk and film in the Planetarium about stars and planets.

The following day, Kerry supported Lee in heading out into the local community to collect foliage for Christmas wreath making. Lee made one wreath for his sister and another for his home, taking real pride in the finished results! ❤️

What a wonderful weekend! 🙂

Service user Mary Young has been getting well and truly into the festive spirit this week, handmaking her own Christmas decorations to brighten up her home. 🎄✨

She’s had great fun creating everything from paper snowflakes to her brilliant snowman door design and she’s absolutely chuffed with how it’s all turned out.

Mary was happy for us to share these photos, and we’re so pleased to show off her creativity and the lovely festive touches she’s added around her space.

Well done, Mary - it looks fantastic! 🫶

✨ Supporting our team to keep growing ✨

Several members of our Nupath Care team have recently enrolled on new training with Learning Curve Group, an organisation that helps care professionals gain nationally recognised qualifications.

From leadership and management to adult care and mental health awareness, the courses give our staff the chance to build confidence, develop new skills and continue providing the highest standard of support to our service users.

Learning Curve Group offers more than 60 fully funded courses (subject to local authority funding), with no cap on how many you can complete and full tutor support throughout - no previous qualifications needed.

If any of our Nupath colleagues would like to know more or register interest, Tracy Thornton from our Northumberland branch is the best person to contact.

We’re really proud of everyone taking this step and investing in their professional development. 💜
