🌈 Today is National Rainbow Baby Day

🌈 A rainbow baby is a baby born after miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, termination for medical reasons, stillbirth, or neonatal death. For many parents, a rainbow symbolises hope and light after a dark time.

🌈 Our Rainbow Clinic is ran by amazing Specialist Bereavement Midwives, Jenny and Nira. They provide parents with specialist antenatal care and continuity of support during an emotional subsequent pregnancy ❤️

The care provided by Jenny and Nira receives wonderful feedback from families, thank you both for everything you do to support our Northumbria families ❤️

"The service was just so welcoming, and I have loved my weekly calls with Jenny and Nira. Both fabulous women with hearts of gold and a genuine desire to help bereaved women. I vented many times and was never rushed off the phone. I felt listened to and heard and valued. "

"The service that you provide is invaluable and I feel incredibly lucky that I had access to it as I found my rainbow pregnancy incredibly difficult."

🌈Thank you to Hope and Luke for this beautiful feedback for our wonderful Jenny and Nira and all the team mentioned here 🥰

There truly isn’t a thank you big enough in the world that we could say to describe how indebted we feel to both Jenny & Nira. At the beginning of my rainbow journey I wasn’t sure it was something I would find beneficial, in fact bottling things up and trying to continue through my pregnancy as if it wasn’t happening was my go to tactic as a way of trying to protect myself, when in actual fact I was just hurting myself further.

After my first phone call with Jenny I realised just how difficult I was finding things, and how much help I needed. And even more so that help is literally just around the corner, a text or phone call away, and that there were 2 lovely ladies ready and waiting to try and take that pain away as much as possible.

There is no way I could comment on trying to improve the service except just trying to convince more people to use it if needed. It’s not something I thought would help me but looking back I don’t know how I would have gotten through my pregnancy without. From the phone calls, the scans, (and the phone calls after!), the walk around the birthing centre prior to my labour were all things that hugely helped me navigate my anxieties and we couldn’t be more grateful for Jenny and Nira for being at every corner whenever and whatever time of day I needed them. So thank you so much for all of the kindness and compassion shown it really has meant the world to us.

I also was hoping you could add on a huge thank you to the individuals who looked after us in Cramlington. We had Becca look after us overnight who was brilliant with me considering how much pain I was in! And also a huge thank you to Katy & Jess who spent a long time looking after me throughout the rest of my labour and I couldn’t have chosen 2 nicer ladies to get me through, they were incredibly supportive and just lovely people to be around in the biggest moment of our lives so far. They’re a credit to the work being done in the birthing centre and I hope everyone gets to experience that same level of compassion during their labours.

So a massive thank you to them, and also there were a few particularly amazing people on ward 16 including Charlotte, Beth, Molly & a few others (sorry we couldn’t remember all names!) who were also absolute angels - there at any hour to help the best they could which we really appreciate. Everyone above will be so remembered in our pregnancy journey as it has gotten us to our dream angel baby girl.

We really are beyond grateful and thank you will never be enough.
Love from Hope, Luke & Ruby 🌈
