Kula Yoga

Kula Yoga I love and want to share the joy of yoga with every person that attends my classes by creating a friendly, safe and comfortable environment.

My classes offer a welcoming space to soften, become present, and explore. The use of props is encouraged, and support and modifications are offered. My foremost goal is to share the practice in a way that is accessible to all: to meet people where they are, as they are. During my teaching I do not focus on one style of yoga as I feel people should experience all its aspects and benefits so I do l

ove to set an intention, work on preparatory poses to work on one particular asana or have a theme. I want people to enjoy my classes, reap the yoga rewards (like I have) and leave with a smile on their face. Then, my mission, then, has been accomplished. Staying active gives me an enormous sense of wellbeing. Yoga is so important to me. It isn't just about increasing my flexibility and strength but the fusion of the mind and body it offers. People have asked me …
why my own movement practice has changed…..?

🌀The simple answer is that I’ve become more interested in how movement feels than how it looks.

🧘‍♀️Yoga will always be part of who I am. It has shaped me in countless ways and continues to inform my teaching.

🌀 But, I’ve found myself drawn towards a more somatic approach to movement—one that values awareness over achievement, curiosity over perfection, and listening over striving.

🌀 Let’s call it evolving..

🌀 At 57, this body has decades of experience, joy, grief, resilience, and adaptation stored within it. It makes sense that my practice would change too.

🌀 As women, our bodies aren’t meant to stay the same forever. We move through different seasons of life, and our movement practice can evolve with us.

🌀 These days, I’m less interested in chasing the perfect pose and more interested in how my body feels.

🌀 If you’re a woman of a certain age and you’ve been wondering whether it’s too late to move differently, to start again, or to simply enjoy being in your body, my answer is NO

🌀 Your body doesn’t need to perform. It needs to be listened to. You deserve to move because you’re alive. Not to become someone else. But to keep becoming more yourself.

That’s not less. It’s deeper.

Because movement is not a given.

It’s a gift.

So let’s honour it, celebrate it, and never stop exploring what our bodies are still capable of—not despite our age, but because every day we can move is something worth appreciating.

MOVEMENT IS A GIFT….

🌀 There is a wisdom within you that exists beyond words.

🌀 A quiet knowing that has always been there, beneath the expectations, the busyness, the doing.

🌀 Somatic Ecstatic Dance (SED) is an invitation to reconnect with that part of yourself.

🌿 No choreography.
🌿 No experience needed.
🌿 No judgement.

🌀 Through conscious movement, you’ll have the opportunity reconnect with your authentic self, and experience the joy and freedom that come when you let your body lead.

✨ SHAKE THE DUST™ ✨

About last night ….

💃🏾 What an honour it is, as a space holder, to create an environment so individuals can have an opportunity to expand their capacity to move with intensity and then return to a place of ease.

💃🏾 Tonight we rose into the fullness of ecstatic expression, and gently descended into stillness.

💃🏾 We discovered freedom through movement and expression and allowed the body to communicate that exists beyond words.

💃🏾 We didn’t move to perform. We moved to feel, to awaken, to reconnect with the truth of who we are beneath the layers of noise.

💃🏾 We allowed curiosity and presence to guide each movement cultivating trust in the body’s innate wisdom.

This is your gentle reminder ….. The body already knows the way.

Thank you for letting me be your guide

Until next time, my loves

🙏

So much of life asks us to disconnect from our bodies, our emotions, our truth, our joy, and sometimes even each other.

Not here ...
We remember !!!!
You are invited to reconnect.
To yourself, to your breath, to your body, and to the parts of you that have been waiting to be heard.

WHAT A DAY !!!!
WHAT AN ENDING !!!

After seven wonderful years of teaching at the MoY… the Bear has officially left the building. 🐻🧘‍♀️

This studio has been so much more than a place to teach—it has been a community, a sanctuary, and a place filled with connection, laughter, growth, and shared moments of calm.

I’m overwhelmed by the messages, hugs, gifts, and voice notes. Your kindness and generosity have made this goodbye incredibly emotional, and I’m so grateful to each and every one of you.

Thank you to everyone who rolled out a mat with me, trusted me with your practice, and made this space feel like home. It has been an absolute privilege to be part of your journeys.

While I’m moving on to a new chapter (taking Fridays off … get me!!!!) I’ll always look back on my time here with immense gratitude and affection.

Heartfelt thanks goes to Dan Octon Shelley Aspden for creating this oasis of calm and giving me my own classes on the schedule for 7 years (did you know before Covid I was in the studio 3 times per week)

Thank you for everything.

Keep moving, and keep looking after yourselves.

Much love always. ❤️
