⚠️ UV Safety Awareness Month ☀️

Did you know? Not all UV rays are the same.

🌞 UVA = Ageing Rays
UVA rays pe*****te deep into the skin, causing tanning, premature ageing, and contributing to skin cancer. In fact, they're responsible for around 80% of the visible signs of skin ageing.

🔥 UVB = Burning Rays
UVB rays affect the skin's outer layers and are the primary cause of sunburn. They directly damage DNA and are strongly linked to melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer.

While UVC rays are absorbed by the Earth's atmosphere, both UVA and UVB reach our skin every day, causing cumulative damage that is responsible for 90% of skin cancer cases.

💛 Prevention is always better than cure.

When the UV Index is 3 or above, use SKCIN's Five S rules of sun safety to reduce your risk:

👕 SLIP on protective clothing – your first line of defence.
🧴 SLOP on SPF 30+ broad-spectrum sunscreen.
👒 SLAP on a wide-brimmed hat.
🕶️ SLIDE on UV-protective sunglasses.
🌳 SHADE whenever possible.

⚠️ When the UV Index is above 7, avoid direct sun exposure and limit time outdoors during peak UV hours:

🇬🇧 UK: 11am–3pm
🌍 Abroad: 10am–4pm

Protect your skin today to reduce your risk tomorrow.
