Looking at this photo, I don’t see someone who needed more willpower. I see someone who needed help. And if weight loss injections had existed back then, would I have considered them?
Honestly… probably.
Because when you’re carrying a lot of extra weight, feeling uncomfortable in your own skin, exhausted, frustrated and convinced you’ve tried everything, you’ll naturally look for anything that might help.
And there should be no shame in that.
What I know now, though, is that losing weight is only part of the story.
I’ve seen thousands of people achieve amazing results with Slimming World.
Long before weight loss medication existed, people were losing weight, changing their lives and keeping it off with the power of food, support and a plan they could actually stick to.
I’ve seen people lose 2 stone, 5 stone, 10 stone and more. Not because they were perfect, but because they learned habits that worked in the real world.
For some people, medication may be the extra support they need to get started, build confidence or quieten the noise around food, and if that’s the route they choose, there’s absolutely no judgement from me.
But medication doesn’t replace support.
It doesn’t replace understanding food.
It doesn’t replace the habits that help you stay slimmer for life.
That’s why, whether someone chooses Slimming World on its own or alongside medication, having the right support around them matters.
My job has never been to judge how someone starts their journey.
My job is to help people build the confidence, skills and support they need for long-term success.
Because the goal isn’t just losing weight.
It’s building a life where you don’t need to keep starting over.
