Re-posting as this prolonged heat can seriously affect the health of those already vulnerable due to pre-existing medical conditions, age and frailty -
Keep out of the heat if you can. If you have to go outside, stay in the shade especially between 11am and 3pm, wear sunscreen, a hat and light clothes, and avoid exercise or activity that makes you hotter.
Cool yourself down. Have cold food and regular cold drinks. Drink extra fluids but avoid alcohol, caffeine and hot drinks, and have a cool shower or put cool water on your skin or clothes.
Keep your living space cool. Close windows, curtains and blinds during the day and open them at night when the temperature outside has gone down. Electric fans can help, if the temperature is below 35 degrees.
Check the temperature of rooms, especially where people at higher risk live and sleep, and make sure to check on anyone who is at higher risk from the heat.

Find out how to keep cool and safe in a heatwave, and who is most at risk of heat exhaustion and heatstroke.

Do’s and don’ts to help you beat the heat. 🫡

Amber and yellow heat-health alerts are in place across the country from 3-5 August.

It's important to stay cool and keep hydrated, particularly for people who are vulnerable.

We’ve had a significant recent increase in missed appointments (DNAs), which we completely understand—this weather can be exhausting and disruptive for everyone.
However, we’d love to remind our patients that the surgery is nicely air‑conditioned, offering a cool and comfortable environment to attend your appointments safely.
Every missed appointment means another patient may have had to wait longer to be seen, so if you can make it, please do come in—we promise a welcoming, refreshingly cool space.
If you’re unable to attend, please let us know as early as possible so we can offer your slot to someone else who needs it.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation
