​How do you ring a stork chick in a hard-to-reach nest?

Enter: the Spider Lift... and an IKEA bag! 🛒🦅 (Turns out, it’s the absolute perfect size for a growing stork).

​Here’s how the process works:

1️⃣ Carefully lower the chicks down in their high-fashion blue bag.
2️⃣ Measure, health-check, and fit them with a unique ID tag.
3️⃣ Return them safely to the nest—all in under 10 minutes!

​Don’t worry, the parents are never far away. We always see them circling above or watching from a nearby tree, and they’re back on the nest as soon as we are on the ground. Since they use the same nests every year, they’re practically used to the annual check-up by now!

Threading the needle on a job this week cleaning steel work on this unique property. Some sneaky manoeuvres were required to get to all areas needed.

Having the basket end mounted on this machine is legendary, why don't more machines have it??? You can really get round the back of stuff and through narrow gaps. Hopefully by the time I want a new machine someone will have done it again... (Come on 😉)

Another poorly ash tree was up for removal today with .c.woodgate_tree_surgery

Lots of rot pockets in both stems made it unsafe to climb it was also pretty close to the A26 should it have failed at some point.

Overall a fun job with some big bits being whopped off!

Friday fun with .c.woodgate_tree_surgery in today.

Partial removal of a row of knackered ash trees. Why the biggest tree had to be over the septic tanks??? Maybe it was well fertilised🤷

Rufus had the best day woofing at a metal horse 🤦🐶

Working over in Surrey with today providing operated access for their team to spruce up the roof of this property. Some annoying phone lines, drain covers and tight gaps between buildings made the set up a bit tricky but the Teupen always finds a way!

Back at one of our regulars today cleaning out all the gutters and valleys using the spider and our gutter vac.

The stone work is very delicate as are the roofs so no one is allowed to walk around the parapets or use the ancient wooden ladders. Our system makes this very safe and efficient.

We also take photos as we go round for the maintenance team to assess and plan future work.

While my machine is taking some time off 😭😭😭 I've had a on hire from . With it's 12.4m of outreach and decent outriggers it handled everything very well and has helped me not let down any of my customers.

Most of the week was chimney jobs with a big tree removal job on Friday with 2 of us and saws in the basket at full reach. I thought we might be over the 200kg weight limit quite easily but we even had capacity to lift fair sized logs off the tree

It's been fun learning how a different machine works, for something that essentially does the same job it's mad how different you have to approach a task to get the most out of the machine.

Thanks to Lewis at Affordable Access he went MILES out of his way to deliver and collect the machine, he does have a nice truck tho...

Thanks to Lewis for dropping off a 23 metre machine at my job this morning with .

My machine is awaiting some parts so in order to keep all my customers happy and on schedule for the coming week I've hired in this shiny red guy. It's only got 80 hours on the clock.

It will be fun to put a different machine through it's paces. I'm going to try very hard not to compare and contrast this and my Teupen too much as they offer different things and I can't afford both!
