A little throwback to our Service to Celebrate World Breastfeeding Week, held at St Barnabas Worship Centre last week. 🍼🌍

The service was a special opportunity to come together in reflection, prayer and celebration, recognising the importance of breastfeeding and the support given to mothers, babies and families throughout their feeding journeys.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this meaningful celebration possible. πŸ’™

An amber heat-health alert is in place across parts of England from 11-14 August.

Some people – particularly the elderly, very young, or those with existing health conditions – face a real risk to their health and need to take steps to keep cool.

Take extra care and look out for others who may struggle in the heat.

If you or someone else feels unwell in the heat, it’s important to act quickly. For more advice, visit nhs.uk.

The celebration brought colleagues, families and members of our local Filipino community together to enjoy traditional Filipino food, games, cultural showcases and plenty of laughter.

This week is World Breastfeeding Week, an opportunity to highlight the support available to families across our Trust and recognise the teams who guide parents throughout their feeding journey. πŸ’™

Our Infant Feeding Team hosted an information stand at Croydon University Hospital where staff and visitors could find out more about breastfeeding services, breastfeeding at work and local support available to families, as well as pick up some freebies.

We also recognised the fantastic work taking place across our maternity, neonatal, paediatric and community services to support parents and babies, while continuing our work towards UNICEF Baby Friendly accreditation.

Thank you to all the staff who support families every day, helping to give babies the very best start in life. 🀱

🎨 From hospital corridors to Croydon's streets!

Congratulations to Montell Barrett-Brookes, Housekeeper at Croydon University Hospital, whose artwork has been selected for this year's Creative Croydon outdoor exhibition.

Montell is one of three artists chosen from a record-breaking 132 entries, with his vibrant illustrations now featured on more than 40 lamppost banners across Croydon town centre.

Born, raised and working in Croydon, Montell's artwork celebrates local identity through colourful depictions of iconic landmarks including Pollards Hill, Crystal Palace Park and Saffron Tower, blending the borough's urban landscape with nature.

We're incredibly proud to see one of our colleagues showcasing his creativity on such a prominent platform and helping to celebrate the diversity, talent and community spirit that make Croydon special.

πŸ’™ Congratulations, Montell, on this fantastic achievement!

🎈 Happy National Play Day! 🌈

Today, we’re celebrating the power of play and the importance of creating inclusive spaces where every child can play, explore and simply enjoy being a child.

Here at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust, our Play Specialists bring that same spirit into our hospital every day. Through therapeutic play, they help children and young people understand their treatment, reduce anxiety, build confidence and make what can be a daunting hospital experience a little brighter.

Whether it’s preparing a child for a procedure, providing distraction during treatment or creating moments of fun on the ward, our Play Specialists help ensure play remains an essential part of every child’s care.

A huge thank you to our incredible Play Specialists for the difference they make to our youngest patients and their families every single day. πŸ’™

We visited the Rainbow Unit, Neonatal Unit, Triage, Labour Ward, Birth Centre, Hope Ward and Mary Ward. Thank you to all our amazing staff for the compassionate care and support you provide to parents and babies every day. πŸ’™

A special mention to one of our talented team members, who created the beautiful World Breastfeeding Week biscuits featured in slide two especially for the occasion – they were a thoughtful and much-appreciated treat! πŸͺπŸ’™

Bowel Cancer UK's Early Diagnosis Programme has launched in Croydon, a 12-month initiative bringing together Croydon Health Services, RM Partners Cancer Alliance and local communities to help more people recognise the symptoms of bowel cancer and take up screening when invited and seek help sooner.

ITV News recently visited Croydon University Hospital to learn more about the programme and spoke to our Clinical Nurse Specialist Giorgina Murtas, alongside Lead Cancer Nurse Baljit Vohra and staff in our Endoscopy Unit, about the importance of recognising symptoms early.

πŸ₯³Happy 21st Birthday to our Critical Care Outreach Team! πŸŽ‰

Today, we celebrate an incredible milestone 21 years of the Critical Care Outreach Team supporting patients and colleagues across the Trust.

Since launching in 2005, CCOT has been there when patients need expert care the most, responding to deteriorating patients, supporting medical emergencies, advising clinical teams and providing reassurance to patients and families. Their dedication, expertise and compassion have made a lasting difference to patient outcomes and helped shape safer care across the hospital.

This anniversary is also a special moment for Belinda Baumgartner, Nurse Consultant, who helped establish the service in 2005 and remains the team's only original member. Her commitment and leadership have been instrumental in developing CCOT into the valued service it is today.

A huge thank you to Belinda and every member of the Critical Care Outreach Team, past and present, for 21 years of outstanding care, professionalism and support.

πŸ’™Happy 21st birthday, CCOT – and here's to many more years of making a difference.
