April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Every year!

Millions of children experience abuse or neglect and the effects can last a lifetime. It impacts their health, learning, and relationships long into the future.

Child abuse does not have a single face. It happens in every community, at every income level, and often goes unnoticed. Awareness is critical. Noticing the signs, speaking up when something feels wrong, and supporting programs that protect children can make a real difference.

Foster families, mentors, volunteers, and everyday adults all play a role in giving children safety, guidance, and hope. Even small actions such as a conversation, a call, or showing up add up to real protection and real impact.

Child abuse is not seasonal but April is our wake-up call. It is a reminder to pay attention, take action, and be part of the network that helps every child feel safe, valued, and supported.

April is Occupational Therapy Month!

Caring for a child with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) comes with unique challenges. Parents often seek effective therapies that can help their children gain independence, improve their motor skills, and enhance their overall quality of life. Occupational therapy (OT) is one such therapeutic approach that focuses on helping children with IDD develop the skills they need to participate in everyday activities, such as dressing, eating, playing, and interacting with others.

Occupational therapy plays a crucial role in helping children with intellectual and developmental disabilities build the skills they need to thrive in daily life. By improving motor skills, enhancing sensory processing, promoting independence, and supporting emotional regulation, OT helps children with IDD live more fulfilling lives. Parents who actively engage in their child’s therapy, both in sessions and at home, can provide the essential support needed for long-term success.

This guide provides a comprehensive overview of how occupational therapy benefits children with IDD, what to expect from therapy sessions, and how parents can play an active role in their child’s progress. Share this post and spread awareness.

April 11th is World Parkinson's Disease Day. 🧠

This day is an opportunity to educate, advocate and support those affected by the disease. By learning about Parkinson's, spreading awareness and encouraging early diagnosis, individuals can contribute to a greater understanding of the disease.

Educating the public about these symptoms fosters empathy, reduces stigma and encourages supportive communities for those living with the disease.

At New Horizons Management Services, we take care of those living with a range of diseases and struggles. We are here to help. Contact us today if you or your loved one need an extra hand on [email protected]
