Rowland Brothers International (RBI) has been at the heart of global funeral repatriation since 1971. RBI was established when holiday companies recognised the need for a commercial repatriation strategy to reunite loved ones with their families after a fatal tragedy abroad. Our seventh generation family funeral directors have organised repatriation for families, insurance and assistance companies

, corporations, government departments, airlines and funeral directors for over 45 years. Our international repatriation service transports the deceased all over the world from any destination to any destination. Our Accreditations
ITIJ Ancillary Assistance Service Provider of the Year 2016
We have been the official helpline for The National Association of Funeral Directors and its members for 15 years. In June 2016 the company was the first funeral director in the UK to sign the Armed Forces Covenant. Our organisation has been signposted in FCO literature as being one which may be able to provide support and advice to British nationals who need the services of an international funeral director.

Yes, a loved one can still be repatriated if they pass away abroad without travel insurance.

While travel insurance can help cover the cost and arrangements involved in repatriation, not having a policy in place does not mean that bringing your loved one home isn’t possible.

In these circumstances, our experienced team can guide you through the process, liaising with local authorities and funeral professionals overseas, arranging the necessary documentation and flights, and coordinating their safe return to the UK.

Without insurance, the cost of repatriation will usually need to be covered by the family or estate. This can vary depending on the country and the arrangements required, and we’ll always explain the process and costs as clearly as possible from the outset.

We understand that knowing where to begin can feel daunting, especially when you’re dealing with the loss of someone you love. Rowland Brothers International is here to take care of the practical arrangements and guide you through every step, helping to bring your loved one home with care and dignity.

For advice or support with international repatriation, our team is available 24 hours a day.

Holding dual nationality does not prevent international repatriation, but it can mean that additional documentation and procedures are required before arrangements can begin.

Each country has its own legal requirements following a death, and when someone held dual nationality, the authorities may need to establish which nationality will be used for the
official documentation. Depending on the circumstances, embassies, consulates and local authorities may all have a role to play in ensuring the correct legal process is followed.

The documentation required can also vary from country to country. In some cases, additional permissions or certified documents may be needed before the deceased can be
released for repatriation. These requirements are carefully managed to ensure both local regulations and international transport requirements are met.

At Rowland Brothers International, we have decades of experience coordinating repatriations from around the world. Our team works closely with embassies, consulates,
government authorities, airlines and our trusted international partners to manage every aspect of the process on your behalf.

We understand that navigating different legal systems while coping with the loss of a loved one can feel overwhelming. That’s why we take responsibility for coordinating the
documentation, communicating with the relevant authorities and keeping you informed throughout, allowing you to focus on what matters most.

Every international repatriation is unique, and where dual nationality is involved, our experienced team will ensure all necessary procedures are completed with professionalism,
sensitivity and the utmost care, helping your loved one return home as smoothly as possible.

When someone passes away overseas, embassies or consulates may play an important role in supporting the repatriation process.

Depending on the country, they may assist with documentation, liaise with local authorities or provide guidance on the legal requirements that need to be completed before your loved one can travel.

At Rowland Brothers International, we work alongside embassies, consulates and our trusted global partners to manage these processes on your behalf, providing reassurance and support throughout.

Recent news from Hull has understandably raised concerns about the standards of care families should expect from a funeral director. Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by these events.

At Rowland Brothers, we are proud members of the (National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors, SAIF), the (National Association of Funeral Directors, NAFD), and the (International Federation of Thanatologists Associations, FIAT-IFTA). We remain committed to providing every family with the highest standard of professional, compassionate and dignified care.

As members of SAIF and the NAFD, we are independently inspected and voluntarily regulated under recognised industry standards. Families also have access to an independent complaints process, providing additional reassurance and accountability.

Our membership of FIAT-IFTA also reflects our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of international funeral care and repatriation, working alongside trusted professionals across the world.

For generations, families have placed their trust in Rowland Brothers during some of life’s most difficult moments. We are honoured to continue serving our communities with integrity, respect and professionalism, upholding the standards that every family should be able to expect from their funeral director.
