Sometimes we all want to know how to avoid negative thoughts! 😓 They can be so persistent, become more frequent when we’re stressed, and often pop into our minds like an unwanted guest.

The truth is, we can’t always stop them from appearing, but we can learn how to manage them differently.

Automatic Negative Thoughts (NATS) can leave you feeling confused, exhausted, and at the mercy of them. Sometimes you’re not even trying to think negatively, but the thoughts appear anyway. 😫

In this post, we look at some ways of reframing negative thoughts to help you manage them, train your mind to think differently, and give yourself more choice over how you respond.

Why is challenging negative thoughts important? Simply put, our thoughts have a huge influence on our feelings and behaviours.

The cycle often looks like this:

Thoughts
⬇️
Feelings
⬇️
Behaviours

If we can learn to challenge and change unhelpful thoughts, it’s one way to improve our overall mental health and wellbeing.

How do we retrain our minds to start noticing the good again?✨

Do you find there’s a grey cloud constantly following you around? Does it feel like there’s a little gremlin living in your mind giving you negative thoughts all of the time?🌧️

You might be experiencing a negative bias mindset…

This happens when you’ve been through such a tough time, and the world around you feels unsafe. It’s actually your minds way of trying to help you survive…❤️‍🩹

What can we do to help improve this?
- 🔥Start looking for evidence of goodness, even if it’s a small act of kindness.
- 🔥Asking yourself, what’s one thing I would repeat from today?
- 🔥What’s one thing that helped me feel a moments peace today?

Repeat this as often as possible and we can create a shift in how your mind is thinking.

P.s We aren’t ignoring the hard facts of life, we are helping you get some peace and rest bite ❤️

Love, Rebecca 💜✨🕉️

How do you stop believing every negative thought you have?

What would it feel like to have more choice and control over your thoughts?

How would life change if you were no longer overwhelmed by negative thoughts you automatically believed?

What might your days look like as your confidence and self-worth began to grow?

Relief.

For many people, that’s one of the first signs that healing is happening.

This is the reward for all the inner work you’ve been doing.

✨ More confidence
✨ Personal growth
✨ Fewer negative thought spirals
✨ A clearer, calmer mind
✨ Greater self-belief

It all begins with a simple process:

🔥 Notice your thoughts.
🔥 Name your thoughts.
🔥 Reframe your thoughts.

Small shifts in the way you respond to your mind can create powerful changes over time.

I’ve got you. Follow along for more guidance on healing, self-growth, and emotional wellbeing. 💜✨🙏

Our journey through gaining better mental health can certainly have it’s ups and downs.

Sometimes, just as we thought we’ve gotten past something significant, when we are finally reacting less, and feel like everything’s getting better, a bump appears on the road!

These bumps are often caused by stress, changes, loss, and the unexpected challenges that sometimes come our ways!

In these times it’s not unknown for the very thing you’ve been working on to raise its head once more! Old ways of being or patterns of behaviour might flare up.🔥☄️

Let me guide you here, this doesn’t mean the work you have done on yourself has been a waste. It really means you’re going through a very stressing time that reminds an old part of you that you thought was gone.

You’re not a failure, you can get through every bump with self-kindness, understanding and accountability when needed.

You’ve got this! 💋

I totally get it—thoughts can be hard to manage, right? That makes total sense because our thoughts are in our own minds, so they can feel incredibly convincing!

Some thoughts can be lovely. They help us focus, take us down memory lane, and even help us find solutions to life’s problems.

But what about the thoughts that are negative? The ones that constantly criticise us, bring us down, or seem to come out of nowhere?

Those are the thoughts that CBT can help you work with.

First, we need to get you into the practice of:

🔥 Notice the thought
🔥 Name the thought
🔥 Reframe the thought

I’ll let you get on with this homework. Let me know in the comments how you get on!

🔥 Can you HEAR your Anger? 🔥 isin’t it such a strong feeling?! It can heavily influence our actions and cause us to become so fiery!

We all know that anger can become rage, and what happens next is often being out of control.

But, what if anger didn’t have to be like an inferno? What if we sat with the feeling of anger and gave it a voice. Might it then tell us it’s truth?

When we learn to give our anger a voice? When we listen to what’s caused it, it turns into emotional processing. Oftentimes are anger is:
💔Hurt
💔Deep sadness
💔Rejection
💔Damaged self-worth
💔Trauma coming to the surface
💔Relationship difficulties
💔Parental dysfunction
(Just to name a few)

The next time you’re feeling angry, try this affirmation to help you lean into the feeling discover what’s REALLY going on.

With empathy,
Rebecca

🔥 Part 2! 🔥

Why do we need anger?

Simply put, anger is built into all of us and serves an important purpose. It is designed to:

🔥 Drive us forward when change is needed.
🔥 Protect us from danger and harm.
🔥 Help us stand up against injustice and fight for what matters.
🔥 Alert us when something in our lives has become too much, too painful, or no longer tolerable.

Why do we feel anger?

Because anger is a messenger. It helps us recognise when our boundaries have been crossed, when our needs aren’t being met, or when something needs our attention.

Can you think of a time when anger actually helped you in the long run?

Check out my next post, where we’ll explore how to cope with and manage anger in a healthy, beneficial way.

With love,
Rebecca 💜✨

What a journey life takes us on!

Back before I became a psychotherapist I had BIG issues with my anger. I found it so hard to control and it would flare up in times that didn’t make sense.

When we are going through angry times it really pays to listen to the message anger is telling us.

For me, my anger was being caused by;
🔥 Negative relationship
🔥 Dysfunction family dynamics
🔥 Unresolved childhood trauma

Once I started to become more self-aware, my anger showed me that I was actually hurt. Deeply wounded ❤️‍🩹

Anger is such an important emotion and it could be telling you:
💜 That something is not right for you
💜 An injustice
💜 A change is needed
💜 An emotional wound is not being heard
💜 A relationship has become negative
