🌿 What happens in a 15-minute consultation? 🌿

A free 15-minute consultation is a chance for us to briefly connect and get a sense of whether working together might feel like a good fit.

In that time, we might touch on things like:
• Whether you’ve had counselling before, and what did or didn’t feel helpful
• What’s bringing you to counselling now
• What you might be hoping for from therapy
• A little about your current world — work, day-to-day life, or support network
• Any relevant diagnoses or medication

You’re also very welcome to use this time to ask any questions you may have about therapy or how I work.

There are also things we won’t go into at this stage. You won’t be asked to share detailed or sensitive experiences, such as trauma — there isn’t the time or the space to do that safely.

The aim is simply to get a feel for whether therapy and/or therapy with me feels like the best next step for you. There’s no pressure to continue afterwards.

If you’re unsure, you’re always welcome to reach out and ask.

Choosing the right therapist for you is a match making process so please feel free to reach out for a free introductory conversation to see if I may be the right fit for you.

🌿 Continuing to learn, for the benefit of my clients 🌿

As therapists, we are required to engage in ongoing Continued Professional Development (CPD). This ensures we continue learning, developing our skills, and working to the best of our abilities with our clients.

I’ve recently completed a lengthy course in body listening and body psychotherapy, expanding on my existing knowledge and deepening my understanding of how our experiences are not only held in our minds, but also in our bodies.

Stress, trauma, anxiety, and even everyday life experiences can show up physically. Learning to gently notice and understand what our bodies are communicating can be an important part of therapeutic work.

I genuinely love learning, and I loved this course. It felt like both a professional expansion and a meaningful reminder - for myself and for my clients - of how closely connected our minds and bodies are.

If you’d like to know more about how I work, you’re always welcome to get in touch.

🌱 There’s no “right” or “wrong” reason to come to counselling 🌱

People come to counselling for many different reasons. Some need a space to offload things they’ve been holding in for a long time. Some feel isolated and want someone to really listen. Others are navigating big life changes, feeling low or anxious, or experiencing ongoing stress and burnout.

Some people come simply because they need to talk something through with another person — one who listens without judgement and without an agenda.

You don’t have to be in crisis, and you don’t need to justify why you’re seeking support. A good counsellor will never turn you away because what you’re bringing is “wrong”. The only time a therapist may suggest an alternative is if they believe you would benefit more from working with someone with a particular specialism — and that is always done with your best interests in mind.

If you’re unsure whether counselling is right for you, you’re always welcome to reach out and ask. I’m happy to answer questions and talk things through, even if you decide not to work with me.

✨ What does it mean to be an Integrative Counsellor? ✨

As an integrative counsellor, I’ve trained in a variety of counselling approaches. This means I can draw from different therapeutic models to create an approach that fits you — because no two people are the same.

For some, therapy is about gaining understanding and making sense of their experiences. For others, it’s about finding a safe space to express emotions that have been bottled up for too long.

Some clients come feeling overwhelmed or burnt out, needing support to manage stress or anxiety. Others prefer a more structured way of working towards a particular goal within a set timeframe. And some come with uncertainty — open to exploring what might unfold, without a fixed plan.

An effective and ethical therapist — and I include myself in this — will always be honest about their areas of competence. If I believe that a different therapeutic approach may suit you better, I’ll happily share that with you and help you explore other options. Therapy should always be about finding what best supports you.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. My role is to adapt the way I work so that it meets your individual needs, at your own pace.

If you’d like to find out more or explore whether therapy might be helpful for you, you can visit my profile below or get in touch for a free introductory consultation.
