📣 Appointments available today

We have a locum doctor in the Health Centre today, which means we have more appointments available than usual.

We currently still have a number of afternoon appointments available, so if you’ve been putting off contacting us because you were worried Monday might be too busy, today would be a good day to give us a call. 📞

We are aware that our capacity is more limited for the rest of the week, so if you need an appointment, please don’t wait if you can avoid it.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. 💚

🍎✏️ Back to School! ✏️🍎

The summer holidays have flown by, and we would like to wish all our local children and young people a fantastic start to the new school term.

A few helpful reminders:

• Re-establish a regular bedtime routine early

• Ensure school bags include any “in-date” inhalers/medication to hand into office

• Encourage good hand hygiene and "catch it, bin it, kill it" habits

• Label water bottles and encourage children to drink plenty of water

• Consider walking or cycling to school where possible to support physical and mental wellbeing

• Most coughs, colds and sore throats can be managed at home with rest, fluids and over-the-counter remedies.

Remember, your local pharmacy can often help with many minor illnesses, providing advice and treatment without the need for a GP appointment.

Have a wonderful school year everyone! 🌟

📞 A Few Appointments Still Available! 📞

We still have a small number of appointments available, but they won't last long.

This is the last date we've been able to secure locum GP cover for a while. We're continuing to do everything we can to arrange additional sessions, but at the moment nothing further is confirmed.

If you've been meaning to contact us about a health concern, now would be a good time to give us a call and see if we can help.

⏳ Once these appointments are gone, they're gone!

☎️ Contact the practice as soon as possible if you would like to be booked in.

📢 IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PATIENTS WITH LONG-TERM HEALTH CONDITIONS

If you have a long-term health condition such as:

✅ Diabetes
✅ High blood pressure (Hypertension)
✅ Asthma
✅ COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
✅ Heart disease
✅ Stroke or TIA history
✅ Chronic kidney disease
✅ Rheumatoid arthritis
✅ Mental health conditions requiring regular medication reviews
✅ Epilepsy

Please be aware that GP practices in Scotland are no longer routinely recalling all patients annually for long-term condition reviews.

What does this mean for you?

To help ensure you don't miss important health checks, blood tests and medication reviews, we recommend that you:

📅 Contact the practice during your birthday month each year to arrange any appropriate blood tests, monitoring appointments and reviews.

📱 We also encourage you to set a reminder on your mobile phone, calendar or diary so that you remember to get in touch each year.

Why has this changed?

GP services across Scotland have changed significantly in recent years. Practices are managing increasing patient demand and are working differently to ensure appointments and clinical time are available for those who need them most.

As a result, many practices are moving away from automatically recalling every patient with a chronic condition each year.

Help us to help you

Regular reviews are important because they can:

❤️ Reduce the risk of serious complications
💊 Ensure your medication remains safe and effective
🩸 Monitor important blood results and health measurements
🩺 Identify any changes in your health early
✅ Support you to stay as healthy and well as possible

By contacting us during your birthday month, you can play an active role in managing your health and help us make sure you receive the care and monitoring you need.

Thank you for working with us to keep your healthcare up to date.

Your health matters. One call each birthday month could make a real difference. 💙

✅ Back pain and other minor ailments

🌼 Top Summer Health Tips

🕶 Wear sunglasses and sunscreen (SPF 30+)
🌳 Take breaks in the shade during the hottest part of the day
👒 Wear a hat when outdoors
🤧 Check pollen forecasts if you suffer from hay fever
🦟 Use insect repellent when spending time outside

By using your local pharmacy for minor illnesses, you can often receive advice and treatment more quickly while helping GP appointments remain available for patients with more complex health needs.

🌞 Most importantly, enjoy the summer!
