Congratulations to Dr Williamson who has completed her GP training and is taking up a GP salaried position in another local practice. We have enjoyed watching you grow in confidence over your time here. You'll be missed but always part of the practice.

We say a temporary farewell to Dr Naqvi who is going to a hospital placement but will return next year to complete her training at the practice.

Over the last few years Dr Hickson has been a locum GP at Dalbeattie. Today was his last day before he hangs up his stethoscope for retirement. We wish him all the best and hope he calls by any time he's nearby playing a round at Southerness.

The Nexplanon® contraception implant is now licensed for 5 years in the UK, following strong evidence showing it remains safe and effective, with no pregnancies reported in years 4–5 of use.

For those with implants currently in place - you can now keep your implant for an extra two years!

We have updated our records and call anyone on an implant after year 5 now for removal or reinsertion.

The Nexplanon® implant is now licensed for 5 years in the UK, following strong evidence showing it remains safe and effective, with no pregnancies reported in years 4–5 of use.

This gives women more choice and flexibility when considering their contraceptive options, while reducing unnecessary appointments.
