Entirely out of the blue earlier this week ,my house changed overnight.
It’s been important to me as my children are growing up to have a house full of animals.
They teach us so much about love. Though when their time comes to depart this earth, they teach us about navigating grief too. An equally important lesson
On Wednesday morning we said goodbye to the furry light of my life Harry Barry. He was my own little personal therapist; when my nervous system took a battering some years back,I spent hours lying next to Harry, listening to him purr and using it to help me soothe. He was instrumental in my healing.
The last few days have been just awful. He was old. But was tootling along just fine, until he wasn’t. On Monday,he lost his balance. On Tuesday the vet confirmed it was his time. He was calm and we chose to spend the night sitting with him. On Wednesday morning,he passed peacefully himself, with his human family all around him.
If you’d told me on Monday morning, that within 48 hours he’d be gone,I’d have laughed. All I can say is that there’s the biggest Harry Barry shaped hole in our home.
15 years of absolute joy from this little guy. I’m so grateful for what he (and his brother who passed in July) has brought to our lives.
Two things can exist in the one place as I often remind clients. And this has been true for me. For all the sadness, there has been so much more joy and comfort that Harry and his little brother have brought to my house and family.
So things are a little quieter these past few days.
I’m taking a few days for a bit of self minding and I’ll be back with you again from Sunday night.
And to my Tuesday night class from earlier this week…. I’ll be back on my game next week. I’d found out that Harry was going to leave us just before I started teaching on Tuesday evening. It was too late to cancel the class and I wasn’t entirely with it. It wasn’t my best work. I’ll be on the ball again next week
See you then 💓
