Pilates is a form of exercise that focuses on core strength, posture, flexibility, balance, and controlled movement. People choose Pilates for many reasons:

Improves core strength by targeting the deep abdominal and back muscles.
Enhances posture and body alignment, which can help reduce back and neck discomfort.
Increases flexibility through controlled stretching and movement.
Builds functional strength without necessarily adding bulk.
Supports injury prevention and rehabilitation because exercises are low-impact and emphasize proper movement patterns.
Reduces stress by incorporating mindful breathing and concentration.
Complements other activities such as running, weight training, dancing, and sports.

Pilates is suitable for a wide range of fitness levels, from beginners to elite athletes, and can be performed on a mat or specialized equipment such as the Reformer Pilates.

New PILATES class blocks starting Saturday 1st August at Cranstoun Footcare Pathhead.

Lets chat about Inversions— where your head is below your heart, such as handstands, headstands, or downward dog. these
These can offer several benefits when practiced safely:

Improve balance, coordination, and body awareness.
Build shoulder, arm, and core strength.
Increase flexibility and mobility.
Temporarily change circulation, though your body regulates blood flow to the brain.
Improve focus and confidence, and some people find them calming or energizing.

While inversions have many fitness benefits, claims that they detoxify the body or dramatically boost brain function aren't supported by strong scientific evidence.

Note....They should be avoided or modified if you have certain conditions, such as glaucoma, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or neck injuries.

Have you ever wondered why posture and strength feel harder to maintain... even though you're still exercising?

It's one of the questions I hear most from the women I work with.

They're in their 40s and 50s. They're successful, busy, capable women who make time to move and genuinely put in the effort.

Yet they still tell me things like:
• "My posture doesn't feel as good as it used
to."
• "I hesitate before lifting heavier things."
• "I'm always tight."
• "I feel like I've stopped getting stronger."

Sound familiar?
Here's what I've learned after years of teaching Yoga, pilates and movement.

It's rarely about working harder.
More often, it's because the body needs more than just exercise—it needs the right progression.

Without a clear structure, it's easy to keep moving without actually building the strength and support your body is looking for.

That's why so many women feel like they're constantly starting again.

The answer isn't doing more.
It's building strong foundations first, then layering movement in a way that helps your body feel supported, confident and strong in movement.
