Darlington Volunteers is a new service in town where you can find volunteering opportunities to suit you.
Darlington Volunteers is a partnership between three local charities: Citizens Advice Darlington, St Teresa’s Hospice, and Darlington Association on Disability. Together, we’re working to promote and support Volunteering for Health and Social Care across the Darlington area.
This initiative is part of the wider Volunteering for Health project, delivered in partnership with NHS England, NHS Charities Together, and CW+. It aims to build a strong volunteering infrastructure, remove barriers to getting involved, and explore new and inclusive volunteering opportunities.
Our Darlington Volunteers Hub is a central point for Health and Social Care related volunteering in Darlington. It connects individuals with local charities and community groups, while also supporting organisations with their volunteer recruitment and coordination.
Volunteering for Health aims to create the conditions within local health systems for volunteering to thrive.
Darlington Volunteers intends to improve the onboarding process for volunteers, and how volunteers are supported within their roles. It aims to increase the diversity of volunteers to represent the local population and expand its reach. Citizens Advice Darlington, Redcar and Cleaveland (CAB) are the lead partner and are supporting our Darlington hospital discharge programme volunteers.
We have established a centralised recruitment hub dedicated to health-related volunteering in Darlington. We have an online platform where partner organisations can promote volunteering opportunities, receive and manage applications, allow volunteers to look through local opportunities to volunteer and offers one to one and group support through, and within the volunteer journey. This makes the recruitment process more efficient and accessible for all.
As we operate as a central volunteering hub for Darlington, we connect individuals with suitable volunteering opportunities and support partner organisations in recruitment efforts.
We also have a Co-Production Group made up of local people who help shape and guide our work. If you’d like to learn more or get involved, we’d love to hear from you! Together, we’re building a more connected, efficient, and inclusive volunteering system – one that works for everyone in our community.
