☀️ HEAT, VASODILATION & SWELLING 👣

Have your feet or ankles been feeling more swollen in the warm weather?

When temperatures rise, your blood vessels naturally widen (a process called vasodilation) to help cool your body. This can allow fluid to collect in your feet and ankles, leading to swelling, discomfort and that heavy, achy feeling.

Common signs include:
👣 Swollen feet or ankles
👟 Shoes feeling tighter than usual
🦵 Heavy or aching legs
🔥 Increased discomfort after standing or walking

Simple ways to help:
💧 Stay well hydrated
⬆️ Elevate your feet when possible
👟 Choose supportive, breathable footwear
🤲 Gentle foot and ankle massage can improve circulation

☀️ The sun is shining, but have you remembered your feet?

Most people apply suncream to their face, arms and legs, yet our feet are one of the most commonly missed areas. This leaves them vulnerable to sunburn, premature ageing and, more importantly, skin cancer.

👣 Why protect your feet?

🔴Feet can burn just as easily as other areas of the body.
🔴Skin cancers, including melanoma, can occur on the feet.
🔴UV exposure contributes to premature ageing, pigmentation and skin damage.
🔴Sand, water and reflective surfaces can increase UV exposure.

🧴 Our top tip: Use a broad-spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen and don’t forget the tops of your feet, around your ankles and the soles of your feet if you are sunbathing. Reapply regularly, especially after swimming or sweating.

Enjoy the sunshine safely and keep your feet protected wherever they take you.
