Sharing this very important message about Sun protection and skin cancer.
Did you know skin cancer now drives the highest volume of urgent, suspected cancer referrals across the NHS?
Dr Jaskiran Azad, clinical director for dermatology at University Hospitals Tees, shares some key advice to keep you and your loved ones safe:
βοΈ Step into the shade during peak hours between 11am and 3pm.
πΆοΈ Wear UV400 sunglasses, a broad-brimmed hat, and closely woven clothing.
π§΄Use a sunscreen with a 4- or 5-star UVA rating. Apply to all exposed skin, including your ears and neck.
π Top up your sunscreen every two hours, or immediately after swimming and sweating.
πΆ Keep babies out of direct sunlight using a pushchair parasol.
Taking just a few seconds to protect your skin today prevents life-altering damage tomorrow.
Keep an eye on your skin, check regularly for new or changing moles, and contact your GP straight away if you notice anything unusual.
