More mako success!!

Great to see Keith off home after having a mako robot assisted knee replacement this morning!

Well done to all the theatre, ward and physio teams for their hard work with the Tees Valley day case arthroplasty pathway

The vast majority of my mako patients are going home the same day as their surgery, showing how the power of mako combined with great clinical teamwork can produce such fabulous results!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😮

3 of our 8 patients off home to watch the football tonight after their knee replacements - 2 mako partial knee replacements and 1 total knee replacement - all operated on this morning before heading out the door this afternoon!

This just shows what the power of mako coupled with the Tees day case joint replacement pathway can achieve - well done to everyone involved in making this such a success!

Success after knee replacement means different things to different people

It’s always great to hear about people running marathons or returning to high level sport after knee replacement, but for Chris and his wife they wanted to be him to be pain free and to be able get out of their house again

Chris’ Parkinson’s disease meant that knee replacement was always going to be a challenge, but the whole team at woodlands came together and worked tirelessly to help Chris and his wife get through his mako robot assisted knee replacement and back home to a better quality of life. So well done to everyone at woodlands who enabled Chris to get the knee replacement that will make such a difference to his quality of life 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

This month marks 20 years since the first clinical mako case!

Since then over 2.5 million patients have undergone mako procedures worldwide, demonstrating the success and clinical heritage of mako.

I’m proud to have played my part in mako by introducing it into the teesside area and continuing to champion it, with another 9 patients this week set to experience their own mako journey!

Another happy patient off home to watch the football the same day after his mako robot assisted knee replacement!!

Since we have had mako 4 technology at Tees Valley most of our patients have gone home as day cases - amazing work by all the staff at Tees as well as the mako of course!

A quick beer before bed after a manic weekend - with one of my favourite beers in the world! Thanks to my patient who knew I loved this beer when I worked out in Western Australia, and brought 2 of these back for me all the way from the little creatures brewery, Freemantle WA. It brings back many happy memories! 👌🇦🇺🦘🐨
