✂️ Creative Assistant Job Opportunity
Pimm’s & Needles
Location: Bloom Cottage, Hurworth, Darlington
Hours: Initially 6 hours per week, with the opportunity for the role to grow
About Pimm’s & Needles
Pimm’s & Needles is a friendly, creative community organisation based at our lovely workshop space at Bloom Cottage in Hurworth.
We run a variety of creative workshops and groups, and there’s always lots happening behind the scenes to make sure our sessions are fun, creative and well prepared.
We’re now looking for a Creative Assistant to join our team and help us with the preparation and organisation that goes into making our workshops happen.
The Role
The role will be varied, practical and creative. Initially, you’ll be helping us prepare the creative side of our sessions, making sure everything is organised and ready for our groups.
This could include:
* Preparing and organising craft materials for our groups
* Cutting templates and putting together craft packs
* Making samples and testing activities before they go out to our groups
* Preparing activities for our Silver groups
* Developing new craft ideas alongside our team
* Creating clear, easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions for activities
* Making sure everything is organised and ready for upcoming sessions
* Counting and checking supplies
* Keeping the workshop space clean, tidy and organised
* Photographing and filming crafts
* Creating simple videos and reels for our social media
* General cleaning and helping with the day-to-day running of our workshop space
The role may develop over time as Pimm’s & Needles grows, with opportunities to become involved in other areas of our creative work.
About You
We’d love to find someone who genuinely loves crafting and being creative.
You don’t need to be an expert in one particular craft. We’re much more interested in someone who enjoys trying different things, has a good creative eye and is happy to learn.
You’ll ideally be:
* Creative and enthusiastic
* Practical and hands-on
* Organised and reliable
* Happy working independently
* Good at following instructions
* Able to work carefully and pay attention to detail
* Confident trying new creative ideas
* Comfortable preparing materials in larger quantities
* Someone who takes pride in keeping things organised and ready for our groups
When you’re preparing materials for lots of ladies across lots of different groups, attention to detail is really important — we need to know everything is going to be there and ready to go!
Social media skills would be a definite bonus, particularly if you’re comfortable taking photographs, creating reels or filming simple craft videos.
This is a lovely opportunity to become part of a small, friendly and creative team.
At Pimm’s & Needles CIC, we are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone is treated with respect and has an equal opportunity to be part of our team.
We welcome applications from people of all different backgrounds.
If you need any reasonable adjustments during the application process, please let us know and we’ll be happy to help wherever we can.
How to Apply
We’re not looking for a super-formal application. We’d much rather hear about you!
If you’re interested, email us at [email protected] and tell us a little about:
* Yourself and your interests
* The crafts or creative things you enjoy
* Any relevant experience you have
* Why you’d like to join Pimm’s & Needles
If you have photographs of things you’ve made, social media content you’ve created, or anything else you’d like to show us, we’d love to see those too.
You don’t need to have a long CV or lots of formal experience — we’re interested in your creativity, enthusiasm and what you could bring to the Pimm’s & Needles team.
We can’t wait to hear from you! ✂️
