Southdowns retirement village is a unique development set in 17.5 acres of the Kent Countryside, whilst retaining the charms of village life in it’s own community.

Unusually for a retirement development, Southdowns has a fully qualified nurse on site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Should you have a medical emergency or need medical advice, you can be secure in the knowledge that a fully qualified and experienced nurse is always available, giving you complete peace of mind. Southdowns offers independent living and does not provide ongoing care.

Southdowns offers independent living and does not provide ongoing care. They are here to provide assistance in an emergency and can also offer advice.

A GP usually holds Surgery on site every week, so that you do not need to go to the trouble of going into the village and waiting around in the main surgery.

Our staff in the Administration Office are always there to assist should you have any queries or problems at any time.

Our staff are dedicated solely to making Southdowns a beautiful and pleasant place to live, relieving you of the many burdens associated with home ownership and leaving you free to enjoy your retirement.

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀
Our facilities are available solely to residents of Southdowns and their guests and you are free to participate in as much or as little as you like. You may wish to stroll through our exclusive grounds or play a spot of croquet. There are also many local walks through the Kent countryside and if you feel slightly more energetic, you can use one of the available allotments to grow your own fresh vegetables or flowers.

The focal point of Southdowns’ social life is Shaw Hall, conveniently located at the centre of Southdowns. Shaw Hall accommodates the Social Centre with its licensed bar, TV lounge, billiard room, social area. It also houses the grocery shop, launderette and the Southdowns coffee shop. The club atmosphere allows you to relax, join your friends for a drink, take a meal, join in a games evening, watch the match or attend a fitness class. Various activities and events are arranged by our social committee.

Daren is our head gardener at Southdowns, he has been working on site for 8 years. Darren likes the variety of duties at Southdowns with an estate of 17.5 acres there is always something to do.

Because our Village is set in 17.5 acres of greenbelt land in beautiful, rural Kent it offers immediate access to the countryside whilst retaining the charms of village life in its own community. From the moment you set foot in Southdowns, you will notice a friendly, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere – quite unlike the fast and furious pace of life so reminiscent of today’s society.
