SilverBirch Healthcare

SilverBirch Healthcare Silverbirch Healthcare is a family owned & run company, providing care to the elderly in their homes

As a family run company with over 60 years experience in the Care industry, we feel we have the knowledge and expertise to support you and your loved ones with all your care needs from a little extra help with the shopping to full time live in care. We have been providing care in Orpington and the surrounding areas for over 10 years and have an amazing team of carers dedicated to providing you wit

h the best possible care, all in the comfort of your own home. There is no set amount of support we can provide as we believe that the care needs to suit the persons changing needs and be flexible to fit around family life. Our approach to care is designed to ensure that people are staying as independent as possible and remain in their homes for as long as they like to. Our pledge to you is that you wont find better care (or carers!) and that the hourly price we charge won't change for the duration of your care journey with SilverBirch. We are committed to ensuring that all our carers are trained and supported, with their training being continually updated. Upon completion of the Care Certificate, our carers go on to specialise in different areas thus enabling us to have staff dedicated to Dementia, Alzehimers and Pallative care. This helps us to tailor care to the individuals needs and ensure that the carers have the right skills to support them. Above all, we want to ensure that the care your family members receive is care we would be happy to have for our own family.

☀️ Hot weather can affect more than just comfort—it can have a real impact on health and wellbeing.

When temperatures rise, older adults can be more vulnerable to dehydration, as the body’s sense of thirst can become less noticeable with age. Even mild dehydration can contribute to tiredness, dizziness, increased falls risk, and changes in mood or concentration.

One important thing to remember: a sudden change in confusion or memory doesn’t always mean dementia. Dehydration and urinary tract infections (UTIs) can sometimes cause temporary confusion or changes in behaviour, which may appear like memory problems. Recognising these signs early and making sure your loved one is drinking enough can make a big difference. 💙

Dehydration doesn’t directly cause UTIs, but drinking enough fluids helps keep urine less concentrated and supports regular bladder health, which may help reduce the risk of infection.

👉 Swipe through for our simple tips to help keep your loved ones cool, hydrated, and safe during warmer weather.

Small steps—like encouraging regular drinks, keeping the home cool, and checking in more often—can help protect the people who matter most.

If you’re worried about a loved one coping in the heat or need extra support at home, our compassionate care team is here to help. 💙

💙 Caring for a loved one can be rewarding, but it can also feel overwhelming at times—you don’t have to do it alone.

Many families find themselves taking on more responsibility as their loved one’s needs change. It’s completely normal to reach a point where you feel tired, stretched, or unsure if you’re providing the right level of support.

If you’ve noticed that your loved one is needing more help with daily routines, personal care, medication, mobility, or simply needs more companionship and reassurance, it may be time to consider additional support.

Changes such as difficulty managing everyday tasks, reduced confidence, social withdrawal, changes in personal hygiene, or concerns about safety at home can be signs that extra care may be beneficial.

Professional home care allows your loved one to remain comfortable and independent in their own home while receiving personalised support from a compassionate team they can trust. 💙

Our dedicated carers provide care with dignity, respect, and kindness—not only supporting the person receiving care, but also giving families peace of mind and the opportunity to spend more quality time together.

📞 If you’re feeling tired, finding things harder to manage, or simply feel like you need some extra support, our friendly team is here to listen and help you explore the options available.
