The Ward Accreditation programme was established within the Trust to benchmark internal standards against those set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This initiative enables us to gain valuable insight into the quality of care being delivered, while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Above all, it reinforces our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety across the organisation.
This achievement is a testament to the dedication, professionalism, and teamwork demonstrated by the entire team within the Surgical Assessment Unit. Your commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care is truly commendable, and this recognition reflects both strong leadership and a positive, collaborative culture.
The team also led a tribute to Mr Matt Dunckley:
"Mr. Dunckley was instrumental in establishing the Surgical Assessment Unit, and over the years he inspired and supported us all through his compassion, willingness to listen, unwavering dedication and commitment to excellence. His legacy will continue to shape our team and he will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.
This Gold Award reflects the excellence and values that Mr. Dunckley embodied throughout his career. The team proudly dedicate this achievement to him."
The award was presented to the SAU team by Chief Nurse Diane Gambrell and Assistant Chief Nurse Julia Walsh who congratulated the team on their wonderful performance and recognised this as a significant achievement for the ward. Also present was Mrs Brenda Stacey who played a key role in the initiative behind SAU and came into see the award presented despite the fact she has now retired.
Congratulations to all involved on this well-deserved success.
