Enhanced Access Evening and Weekend Appointments

We continue to offer evening and weekend appointments, either at Dartmouth Medical Practice or in collaboration with other local GP surgeries. These appointments provide greater flexibility for patients who may find it difficult to attend during normal practice hours.

A range of services are available through Enhanced Access, including appointments with a GP either face to face or via telephone, Practice Nurse, Healthcare Assistant, and Phlebotomist. Patients may also be able to access services such as cervical screening, blood tests, blood pressure checks, ECG's, dressings (you must bring dressings with you) depending on availability.

Enhanced Access is a pre-bookable service only and unable to accept walk in patients. To book an appointment, please contact the practice or for more information please follow link below.

Important Message for Our Patients:

Unfortunately, due to staff sickness today, we are experiencing a significant shortage of Clinicians. If your issue is not urgent and can safely wait, we would be very grateful if you could delay contacting the surgery until later in the week when we hope to have our full clinical team back in place.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

🌞 Many of us enjoy the sunshine, but when temperatures climb, hot weather can pose real health risks.
During heatwaves, more people than usual become seriously unwell.

Please take a moment to look after yourself and those around you.

Stay safe by:

Drinking plenty of fluids — even if you don’t feel thirsty💧

Keeping your home cool — close curtains during the day

Checking on vulnerable neighbours — especially older adults and those with long‑term conditions

Knowing heat‑related symptoms — and acting quickly if they appear

Let’s keep our community safe in the heat.

The HPV vaccine is saving lives.

New research by Queen Mary University of London and Cancer Research UK shows deaths have fallen sharply since school-age girls began being offered it in 2008, and around 200 lives have been saved in England so far thanks to the vaccine.

The vaccine protects against high-risk HPV, a virus that can lead to cervical cancer and some other cancers.

Both girls and boys can get protection from high-risk HPV by having the HPV vaccination in their teenage years. It not only protects against cervical cancer, but other types of cancer too.

You can help protect your child by giving consent for them to have their vaccination when invited.

And remember: cervical screening is still important, even if you’ve had the HPV vaccine.

💙 A message to our patients 💙

It is with regret that we once again need to share this message.

🗣️ Recently, there has been an increase in incidents where members of our team have been subjected to some verbal abuse. Our staff work under significant pressure every day and, like everyone else, they are not immune to the impact of this behaviour.

🏥 We completely understand that navigating local healthcare services, pathways and options can sometimes feel confusing or frustrating – particularly at a time when the hospital has also transitioned to a new clinical system (EPIC). Please be assured that our team will always work with you to help guide you to the most appropriate care/service for your needs.

🤝 We aim to treat everyone with kindness, respect and understanding, and we remain committed to supporting each patient as best we can within the services available locally.

🚫 However, we must remind patients that our Practice operates in line with NHS England’s zero tolerance policy. We kindly but firmly ask that all interactions with our staff remain respectful, and that verbal abuse is not directed towards them.

🙏 Thank you for your understanding, kindness and continued support.
