🍂☀️ Autumn has arrived, but your SPF shouldn’t be packed away just yet...
As we move into autumn, it’s easy to think that sun protection is no longer as important. But UV exposure doesn’t disappear when summer ends.
UVA rays are present throughout the year and can pe*****te clouds and windows. They are associated with premature skin ageing, pigmentation and cumulative skin damage.
And depending on the weather, location and time of day, UV levels can still be high enough in autumn to cause significant exposure, particularly on bright, sunny days.
That’s why your daily skincare routine should still include broad-spectrum UV protection, even when the temperatures start to drop.
When choosing your sunscreen, look beyond the SPF number:
☀️ Broad-spectrum protection against UVA & UVB
☀️ SPF 50 or higher
☀️ A strong UVA rating, such as PA++++ or an equivalent UVA rating
☀️ A formulation suitable for your skin type
☀️ Apply enough, the SPF on the bottle is based on a specific application amount
☀️ Reapply during prolonged outdoor exposure, particularly after swimming or sweating
☀️ Remember that sunscreen is only one part of sun protection, shade, protective clothing, sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat all help.
And one of the most common mistakes? Not applying enough sunscreen. Even an SPF 50 won't provide the protection expected if too little is applied.
So, as we head into autumn, don't let your SPF slip out of your routine. Protecting your skin from UV exposure is a year-round commitment. 🍂☀️
