We were delighted to welcome representatives from the local Fire and Police services to Astley Hall Care Home for a morning of chat, laughter and community spirit.

Our visitors enjoyed a tour of the home and breakfast prepared by our Catering Manager, Jen, while spending time getting to know our residents.

The visit brought plenty of smiles and has helped create new community connections, with plans for future visits already being discussed.

Seeing our residents enjoying these special moments is exactly why we do what we do. ❤️

On Saturday we held an instructional drawing class. We like to follow
Rob Biddulph

The theme was an ‘Icecream character’
I’d like to say we certainly created some very cheeky characters and some inventive names too.

We finished our session listening to the old ice cream van tunes from our childhood 🎵🍦🚐

Last week was dementia awareness week

Here at Astley Hall we were very busy:
Crafting collages with Creative Mojo Warwick & District
Taking a ‘Pub Quiz’ to the local pub with us for fun Middlemore Farm
Training on the dementia bus for all staff
Raising money with
Tabletop games on our regular Thursday drop-in dementia friendly sessions

Living with Dementia is a very huge part of all our lives here at the home and we love to welcome our community in, helping to raise awareness for families and friends alike.

Dementia awareness week

We had the Dementia Awareness Bus visit us at Astley Hall last week to enable our staff to feel what it could be like living with dementia.
There were emotions, tears and smiles as we shared experiences. The training gives an insight into how it may feel for our residents.

Discussing our experiences afterwards it was clear that we all acted differently whilst in the bus.

A very educational, immersive and worthwhile experience for our staff.
