So I'm a therapist in therapy. And I also have coaching sessions with the legendary Chloe Myers.

She is running a day retreat in September and I am so excited to be going. It's for women that are business owners and also struggle sometimes with prioritising themselves and their own joy.

My philosophy as a counsellor is centred around clients finding their their joy, so of course I'm going to prioritise centring my own.

Tickets are still available so if you fancy joining me at this event: https://dandelion.events/e/selfishera

And welcome back to this week's episode of things I've said in therapy...

If any of the below apply to you, you're welcome. 👌❤️

Today's burning question about therapy, ANSWERED: 🤔 💬

Do therapists think about their clients outside of sessions?

So my philosophy as a counsellor, if it were boiled down to three words is simple:

✨find your joy✨

And that's what I help my clients do, (especially LGBTQI+adults, traversing existence from discovery to transition and beyond...) 🏳️‍🌈❤️

Today, I've found my joy in doing some creative at the amazing The Makery in Teignmouth at one of their summer workshops. (Keep scrolling for the gayest mosaic you'll ever see) 🌈🎨🫟

What have you done today to bring you joy?
Let me know in the comments.🐦

Things I have in my therapy room (part 2)
A glorious basket of fidget toys, stress balls and stacking blocks for my neurodiverse clients. Or anyone who just needs something to do with their hands while we talk. 👐🗣️
These are an easy win for neurodivergent folks and why not? If I can make adjustments for clients comfort, I absolutely will. This can be around lighting, sounds and length of sessions.

I really love working creatively with clients and supervisees. I'll be sharing more about what this looks like in the coming weeks.

I've collected all of these images over the years and I often add to it when I stumble across an interesting picture.

Does one of these fit with your Friday? Which one resonates? Or do you want to share your own? I'd love to know. 👇❤️

Yesterday I talked a bit more seriously about being (or not being) a blank slate therapist. I'll leave the video link in the comments but for those who just want it in pictorial form? You're welcome. 😜

Why I am not a "blank slate" therapist 🤔

Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Seriously though, does anyone out there actually want a therapist who can be totally neutral all the time? Has anyone experienced that? I can't say that I have. I'm really itching to have this conversation with other therapists or folks who've been in therapy.

So there are lots of weird and wonderful objects in my therapy room - some with a very clear therapeutic purpose and others that are really for the aesthetic.

This is in my room ✨purely✨ so when the moment presents itself I can make some sort of comment about the "elephant in the room... but not that one." 😉

I'll be sharing some other items soon, but I'm curious though, have you seen anything quirky in a therapy room, or do you have something you want to share? I'd love to see. Drop a comment👇
