Home Instead - North Oxfordshire Home Instead provides tailor-made, flexible care at home for older adults to enable greater independ

Home Instead is recognised as one of the UK’s leading home care organisations; our office is run by Graham and Elaine Holtom. We both have personal experience of elderly care, through family members either needing care or working in the industry, as well as Elaine’s lifelong nursing career - both in a hospital setting and through District Nursing. These experiences have given us a practical unders

tanding of the need for quality care with compassionate tailor made support..

“Our philosophy is simple; to provide a high quality service which will enable older people to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible, whilst improving their quality of life”

As part of Home Instead we are an award-winning homecare provider offering a wide range of non-medical services to help seniors and their families feel secure, confident and enjoy life. Our services include home-help and companionship, through to personal and dementia care. Because we care we operate to the highest standards – but don’t just take our word for it. A recent survey from the UK’s leading healthcare information specialist (Laing and Buisson) revealed Home Instead is England’s leading homecare provider, achieving the highest Care Quality Commission compliance scores among all the homecare branches across the country (covering over 8000 services). We strive to find out what is important to you as well as what is important for you. Our commitment to our clients and their families is very simple – and we mean it. They will receive the care they want, when they want it and delivered by whom they want. In order to make this happen, among other things,

· our quality procedures have been developed to meet our care aspirations and not just to comply with regulation. They are in excess of regulatory requirements and are regularly verified through audit and spot checks.

· we provide all our staff with a great deal of support and training which is regularly updated.

· our CAREGivers are subject to a rigorous selection procedure where we assess their motivation, compassion, reliability and empathy. They are also required to provide six references and attend a four day induction training process prior to meeting a client.

· the relationship between our clients and their CAREGivers are critical and we closely match interests ensuring that they have things in common.

· we guarantee that clients are introduced to their CAREGivers before care starts so that clients will never have a stranger coming to their home to give care.

· our client to CAREGiver ratio is very low. Each of our CAREGivers has few clients with whom they spend a good deal of time so that a genuine relationship can develop. Our minimum visit time is one hour and we can also provide certainty around times of visits. We will be pleased to visit you at home to talk through how we can help or alternatively you are more than welcome to pay us a visit at our office in Deddington for a cup of tea and a chat. Whether you are interested in discussing your specific care at home needs or joining us as a CAREGiver, please give us a call on 01295237237.

During National Wellness Month, let's remember that caring for ourselves and others doesn't have to be complicated. A kind conversation, gentle encouragement, or a little extra support can brighten someone's day and make a lasting impact.

Together, we can create a community where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Older adults often don't feel thirsty until they're already dehydrated, which is why telling them to drink more rarely works.

Making it easy, and easy to spot, tends to do more.

Frozen fruit juice in an ice cube tray. Drop a few into a glass of squash through the day, slowly melting, gently topping it up.

Slices of watermelon, cucumber, or orange in a bowl in the fridge. Easier to reach for than a drink, and they count.

A jug on the side, refilled at breakfast. Knowing how much is left by lunchtime tells you more than asking ever will.

A few hours of company a week can quietly change how the rest of the week feels. The visits are arranged around the person, the things they enjoy, the time of day they're at their best, the days they could do with someone there.

What sets us apart is the local team behind it. Every visit is planned, managed, and reviewed by people based in North Oxfordshire who know the Care Professionals personally and stay close to how things are going.

If you're considering companionship support for someone you love, speak to our local team on 01295 237237.

A regular visit changes that. Someone at the door, the kettle on, an hour spent talking about the week, looking through old photos, a walk to the post box. Small things that turn a quiet week into a connected one.
