From 1st September 2026, we are offering a 10% contribution towards memorials and memorial spaces here at Trent Valley Crematorium.

🌿Caring for the Grounds During the Drought at Trent Valley 🌿

The East Midlands is now experiencing a prolonged drought, and the impact is becoming increasingly visible across the grounds at Trent Valley Crematorium. The aerial photos we took this morning show a clear contrast: our memorial gardens remain carefully tended, while the surrounding fields and grassed areas are already showing signs of significant dryness.

Our grounds team has been out early each day, watering mindfully and prioritising the most vulnerable areas — especially the memorial plots, young trees, and newly planted sections. With a hosepipe ban now imminent for the East Midlands, we’re preparing to adapt our approach even further while still doing everything we can to protect the spaces that matter most to families.

These images help us make thoughtful, informed decisions about where our efforts are most needed. Check out the aerial image from a similar time last year and our drone Footage on our page in comparison to these images that highlight just how challenging the weather has become. Be assured that if some trees perish as a result of this weather we will replace them without question however we may need to delay that process until the drought is over in order to give them the best opportunity for survival.

Every garden, every tree, every memorial space here holds meaning. Thank you for your patience, kindness, and understanding as we navigate this period of extreme weather together.

🌿 Memorial Gardens Safety Update 🌿

We’ve recently seen an increase in prohibited items placed on gardens and hung from memorial trees and have had a number of glass, ceramic and pottery items break in our memorial gardens. Broken fragments can cause injury to staff, visiting families, and wildlife.

Additionally items hung from memorial trees or wrapped around branches can cause damage to the tree itself. This will be monitored and they may be subject to removal if damage is being caused to memorial trees.

To keep everyone safe, we kindly ask that all glass and ceramic items (including pottery) are removed by Monday 31st August 2026.

Any items left after this date will be removed, kept for collection for 1 month until 30th September 2026.

Visitor information is displayed on notice boards throughout the grounds, but I’ve also attached it here for easy reference.
