🌟 Meet Our Team – Georgie! 🌟

This month, we’re introducing you to our wonderful Care Professional, Georgie! 💗

Georgie has been part of the Radfield Home Care family for 6 months now, and she has already become a valued member of our team.

She is a knowledgeable, caring and dedicated Care Professional, always putting our clients first and going the extra mile to provide great care. 🥰

💬 Here’s Georgie’s story…

''Hi everyone! I’m Georgie, and I’m one of the carers here at Radfield Home Care.

Alongside working at Radfield, I’m also a qualified Children’s Nurse and currently waiting to start my new role at Queen’s Medical Centre. I’m really excited to begin this next chapter in my nursing career, but don’t worry — I’m not disappearing! I’ll be continuing my work with the lovely Radfield team alongside my nursing role.

One of the things I really enjoy about caring is getting to know the people I support and finding ways to make their care as personal and comfortable as possible. At the moment, I’m even learning Polish to help me communicate with one of our clients. I’m still very much a beginner, but I’m enjoying the challenge and hopefully improving a little more each time!

When I’m not working, I love spending time with my boyfriend, friends and family. We’re big film fans and avid viewers of 'Casualty' and 'Coronation Street', so there’s usually plenty to talk about after an episode. I am a massive Nottingham Panthers fan so try and get to see these regular. I’m a very creative person and love anything that allows me to make something. I enjoy painting, colouring, completing puzzles and reading - but my biggest hobby is definitely crocheting. My projects can range from clothes and accessories to baby toys and twiddle muffs. I also love animals, I'm vegetarian and absolutely adore my seven pet rats!

I’m really looking forward to continuing my journey with Radfield, balancing my nursing career alongside my work here, and getting to know even more of the wonderful people I work alongside.''

💗 Celebrating Dania! 💗

Yesterday was our wonderful Dania’s final day with Radfield Home Care, after an amazing 5 years as part of our team.

Dania has always been someone our clients, families and care team could rely on, going above and beyond to provide support, guidance and a friendly face whenever it was needed.

Her hard work, dedication, compassion and commitment have made a real difference to so many people, and she has certainly left her mark on the Radfield team. 🌟

While we’re sad to see her go, we’re also incredibly excited for her as she starts her new role working with children. We know she’ll bring the same kindness, patience and dedication to her new role that she has shown throughout her time with us.

Thank you for everything, Dania. You will be missed, but we wish you every success and happiness in your new adventure! 💗🌈

📚💗 A World of Stories on Sally’s Doorstep 💗📚

For 90-year-old Sally, reading has always been a huge part of her life. Originally from Canada, Sally has loved getting lost in a good book from a young age — discovering new people, places and stories along the way.

But when Sally stopped driving, getting to her local library became much more difficult. She was still reading, but often had to wait for family to take her or even reread books she had already enjoyed.

We wanted to find a way to help Sally keep doing something that brings her so much joy. ❤️

So, around six months ago, we helped arrange a mobile library service, bringing the library directly to Sally’s doorstep! Every six weeks, six new books are delivered based on her interests, with the previous books collected and replaced with new ones. 📖✨

It has opened up a whole new world of stories for Sally — including discovering authors and genres she may never have picked up herself.

Most importantly, Sally says the service has “increased my mood” and gives her something new to look forward to every six weeks.

When asked what she thinks about having the library come to her, Sally simply said:

“It’s lovely.” 🥰

And when asked what she would miss most, alongside the variety of books, Sally was quick to mention the “good-looking man” who delivers them! 😂📚

Sally’s story is a wonderful reminder that care is about so much more than the day-to-day tasks. It’s about taking the time to understand what matters to someone and finding ways to help them continue doing the things they love.

Sally told us:

“I can’t thank Radfield enough — going above the day-to-day care you provide.” 💗

And that’s exactly what we believe care should be — helping people live well, stay connected to the things they love and continue to have something to look forward to. 🌷

💜 September is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month 💜

September is a time to raise awareness, start conversations and show our support for everyone affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia.

At Radfield Home Care, we know that behind every diagnosis is a person, a family and a story. That’s why creating understanding, reducing stigma and providing compassionate support is so important. 💜

Throughout September, we’ll be taking the opportunity to learn, talk and raise awareness across our care team and Day Centre, with activities designed to encourage conversation, connection and understanding.

Whether it’s sharing memories, enjoying an activity together or simply taking the time to listen, every moment of connection matters. 🫶

This month, let’s help spread understanding and remind those living with dementia and their families that they are not alone. 💜

💜 Grief Awareness Day 💜

Grief is something we all experience differently. It doesn’t always look the way we expect, and there’s no set timeline for how someone should feel or how long it should take.

At Radfield Derby, we believe that good care is about looking beyond the person we support and recognising the people around them too.

When someone is receiving care, their family members can sometimes find themselves taking on new responsibilities, making decisions, worrying about their loved one or simply trying to navigate a difficult time themselves. It’s easy to forget that they may need support too. 💚

Our Care Professionals can become familiar, trusted faces not just to the people we support, but to their families as well. Sometimes it’s a listening ear, a friendly conversation, a little reassurance or simply being there when someone needs it.

And when a loved one passes away, the relationship we’ve built with their family doesn’t suddenly become less important. We understand that grief can continue long after care has ended.

Today, we’re thinking about everyone who has experienced loss — but also celebrating the memories, stories, laughter and love that remain. ❤️

Because sometimes supporting someone through grief isn’t about having the right words. It’s simply about being there. 💜
