Residents at Bluebell Park enjoyed a visit from some special visitors today.

We welcomed Sam from the The Mobile Mini Zoo, along with just a few of her gorgeous animals, Rosie the python, Ike the lizard, Blue the bunny rabbit and a gorgeous 6 week old guinea pig.

Residents loved holding and stroking the animals, those who were feeling brave, even held Rosie, the snake over their neck! It was a fantastic afternoon, enjoyed by all those who took part, we cant wait to welcome Sam and some more of her wonderful pets back to Bluebell Park!

We have had a wonderful morning today, spent with the wonderful children from Homefields primary schools Eco Club.

The children helped our residents with our gardening club, and we all got stuck in planting some tulip bulbs. We spoke about our favourite plants and flowers, and discussed other projects we are going to do together in the future.

After the messy work, we went on to do some drawings of our 'Dream Garden'. The pictures produced were fantastic and our residents enjoyed telling the children all about their gardens they had.

We cant wait to see our bulbs blossom over the next few months!

🌟 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH 🌟

Massive congratulations to Pauline Muir, one of our carers, who was nominated by a relative. The nomination said Pauline is a dedicated carer who has time for everyone. Pauline is very kind and even tempered, she has a lot of patience with all the residents as well as a lovely sense of humour.

Chellaston care home collects food and toiletries for Derby charity

A lovely day for us here at Bluebell Park today.

This morning, a few of us went over to our local favourite coffee stop - The Lounge - Chellaston. We enjoyed a delicious hot drink and tasted one of their gorgeous chocolate brownies. We enjoyed chatting and reminiscing with one another.

This afternoon, we enjoyed a concert with the wonderful Debbie. Residents complimented her beautiful voice and thoroughly enjoyed having a sing a long and a dance together.

Residents and relatives enjoyed a lovely selection of home baked cakes yesterday at our monthly coffee morning.

We spoke about upcoming activities and events and reminisced on some of our favourite things to do in the autumn months.

A lovely morning spent with one another.

Today marks World Alzheimer’s Day. It is an opportunity to pause, reflect & recognise people living with dementia across our care homes & services.

Claire Peart, Deputy Director of Dementia at Barchester Healthcare, explains: ‘Today is a chance to be reminded that behind every diagnosis of Dementia there is a unique person with their own life story & identity. It is important to ensure every resident living with Dementia feels valued & respected.
It is also an opportunity to recognise & celebrate the difference our teams make to enriching our residents lives and the support they give to family and friends.
I personally would like to thank everyone for putting our residents at the heart of everything we do at Barchester’.

Is there a better way to start the week than with a gorgeous pony visit?!

This morning, residents from all floors were delighted to be visited by the beautiful Dolly and her wonderful owner, Jas from Countryside Connect CIC.

Dolly was given endless amounts of fuss and attention as residents gave her lots of cuddles and enjoyed asking Jas all about her. Dolly then went on to the other communities to do some one to one bedroom visits with our residents which were very much appreciated and brought lots of smiles to their faces.

It was a wonderful morning and we can’t wait to see who Jas brings to visit us next time!

👰 Resident Celebrates Granddaughter’s Wedding Blessing 🤵

The team at Derham House Care Home in were delighted to help one of their much-loved residents, June, enjoy a very special day when she attended her granddaughter’s wedding blessing at St Helen & St Giles Church in Rainham, surrounded by family and friends.

June was delighted to witness such an important milestone in her granddaughter’s life and to share in the joy of the occasion.
Following the service, the celebrations continued back at Derham House, where family and friends gathered for a reception.

June, who recently turned 89, commented: “I have had such a marvellous day, my granddaughter, Keeley, looks absolutely beautiful, I am over the moon for her and Daniel, they are such a gorgeous couple. It has been fantastic to celebrate with them and have all my family together.”

What an unforgettable day for all involved! 👏

⛳️🤸‍♀️ Get Ready to Get Barchester Moving ⛳️🤸‍♀️

From 6th to 12th July, residents, patients, families, friends and colleagues across the country will be getting active as part of Get Barchester Moving Week 2026 – a fun-filled week of movement and fundraising in support of Barchester's Charitable Foundation.

There’ll be something for everyone – from gentle exercises and dance sessions to sponsored walks, live entertainment and more – all designed to put the ‘fun’ into fundraising while promoting movement and wellbeing.

The Foundation helps older people and those living with disabilities stay connected to their local communities.

Let’s get moving and make a difference together.

⭐ Waterside Court Donates £1,000 to Cycling Charity ⭐

Waterside Court Care Home in recently presented Cycling Without Age with a cheque for £1,000 to support their wonderful contribution in enriching the lives of care home residents and the wider Wallingford community.

Cycling Without Age in Wallingford offers free trishaw rides to residents of care homes and day centres and for elderly local residents, helping to combat loneliness and social isolation.

The grant has been awarded on behalf of Barchester's Charitable Foundation.

Mike Heath MBE, Operations Manager, said, “The donation is very much welcomed and appreciated and will be a huge help in continuing our contribution to the wellbeing and enjoyment of Wallingford residents.”

Heather, a resident at the home, shared, “Going through Wallingford Town Centre and waving out to people I know, makes my day. We feel very much part of the community.” 👏

🎉 Hafan Y Coed Celebrates Excellent CIW Ratings 🎉

Hafan Y Coed Care Home in passed a recent Care Inspectorate Wales inspection with ‘Excellent’ ratings - the best possible ratings – across the board, after being praised for operating a safe, well-maintained, caring and well-led service.

The report stated that there was a strong sense of community and teamwork in the home nurtured by a very well-respected management team who promote choice, independence and positive wellbeing outcomes for their residents.

A relative commented: “They go over and above what’s required. It’s the thoughtful little things, you don’t need to ask, they just do it.”

Our COO, Natasha Lazovic, visited Hafan Y Coed to congratulate the team on the home’s Excellent ratings and award every member of staff a £500 voucher to celebrate their achievement. She shared: “Hafan Y Coed is a fantastic home delivering exceptional care to its residents, I couldn’t be prouder of General Manager, Sarah, and every single member of staff here. I am delighted to be here today to congratulate everyone personally, meet the residents and chat to the team about their wonderful work.”

⭐ Elgar Court Wins Prestigious Award ⭐

We’re happy to share that Elgar Court Care Home in has scooped the Best Residential Care Home Award for 2026 in Worcestershire. The home has been chosen out of a number of care homes across Worcestershire.

Elgar Court is a luxury residential care home and opened in July 2023. The care home offers bespoke person-centred residential and dementia care, and is set against the beautiful backdrop of the Malvern Hills – the town which was voted in 2026 as the best place to live in the Midlands.

🚴‍♀️ Tour de Barchester 2026 Highlights 🚴‍♂️

We’ve created a lovely video showcasing some of the highlights from this year’s Tour de Barchester – a gruelling 200-mile cycling challenge.

Thanks to the incredible support of our colleagues, care homes, sponsors and suppliers, we raised over £64,000 for Barchester's Charitable Foundation, which supports older people and other adults living with a disability or a mental health condition by helping them to connect or re-connect with others in their local communities.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and supported the event. Your energy, generosity and determination made all the difference.
