Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Mental health, children's and learning disability services. Page monitored 9am-5pm Mon-Fri. Members receive regular updates on our news and upcoming events.

As a Foundation Trust we are required to build a membership which is as representative of the community we serve as possible. Local people are invited to become a member of the Trust, to work with us to provide the most suitable services for the local population. They are also represented by a Council of Governors. We have a clear vision for the Trust, underpinned by objectives that serve as the b

asis for decision making and forward planning. Our vision and objectives guide us in how we balance the interests of patients, the local community and other stakeholders. The Trust has a Board of Directors, sometimes known as the Trust Board. This Board has a responsibility to make the best use of financial resources and deliver the services people need, to standards of safety and quality which are agreed nationally. Inclusion is important to the Trust and we are one of the only mental health Trusts in the country to be led by a Chair and Chief Executive from the BAME community. We are a friendly, values driven Trust and put our people first in the knowledge that an engaged and empowered workforce leads to good patient care. It’s a good time to join Team Derbyshire Healthcare – we are growing, with lots of exciting new developments and investment in local mental health services.

75% of our colleagues say the Trust is a good place to work or receive care. According to our staff survey we are one of the best trusts of our type, with active staff networks. We have a good mix of services; inpatient and community, children’s universal, perinatal and many more. We take the wellbeing of our colleagues seriously, champion staff engagement and have an ongoing programme of staff reward and recognition. Our main inpatient sites are Kingsway Hospital in Derby, the Radbourne Unit based on the Royal Derbyshire Hospital site in Derby, the Hartington Unit based on the Royal Derbyshire Hospital site in Chesterfield – with teams across the whole of the county. We provide Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Derby city. In Learning Disability services which we provide in Derby, we have recently formed an alliance with Derbyshire Community Health Services to lead across the county. We’re also actively involved in work across the system and region; to ensure that the NHS continues to improve the delivery of services across the patch to the communities we serve. “Confidence isn’t simply something learned - it’s something experienced, developed and carried forward.”

A community mental health programme in the Derbyshire Dales is helping patients take positive steps towards recovery using nature, practical activity and peer support.

The Active Confidence group is a nine-week occupational therapy-led programme delivered by Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s Derbyshire Dales Community Mental Health Team, in partnership with High Lea Farm in Matlock.

Now in its third year, the group supports people to build confidence, develop communication skills, reconnect with others and take part in meaningful activities in a safe and supportive environment.

Today marks one year since Audrey House opened its doors at Kingsway Hospital, providing modern, therapeutic inpatient care for women.

Audrey House is a mental health enhanced care unit based on the Kingsway Hospital site in Derby. It has eight single bedrooms for women, offers support for women with enhanced mental health care needs, and provides access to a wider range of healthcare professionals than our acute inpatient services.

Over the past 12 months, colleagues have helped create a welcoming environment focused on dignity, compassion and person-centred care, supporting patients and their families when they need it most.

A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to Audrey House's first year of success. Here's to continuing to make a difference for our patients and communities.
