The Chopstick Challenge! 🥢

Today we took on the Chopstick Challenge! 🎉 Our residents had to transfer pom poms from one bowl to another using chopsticks. 🥢

There were lots of concentration, laughter and some great competitive spirit! It was a fantastic way to practise hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills while having plenty of fun. 💕👏

A Lovely Day of Fresh Air and Fitness 🌳💙

This morning we enjoyed a lovely stroll around the park, making the most of the fresh air and sunshine while enjoying some lovely chats along the way. ☀️🌿

This afternoon we got moving with our weekly chair-based exercise session with the fantastic Derby County Community Support team! 💪⚽ Everyone joined in and had a great time keeping active together. ❤️

A Creative Sunday 🖼️🧩

On Sunday we got creative and decorated our very own photo frames! 🖼️✨ It was lovely seeing everyone’s individual designs come together.

In the afternoon, we enjoyed our Jigsaw Club and got started on a lovely jigsaw that was kindly donated to us. 🧩💗 We’re looking forward to seeing it completed!

A Creative Morning 🎨✨

We had a lovely creative morning today! From colouring and painting to trying out our brand-new magic water pictures, there was plenty of creativity and fun to enjoy. 🖌️💦

Creative activities are a wonderful way to support people living with dementia. They can encourage self-expression, stimulate the senses, bring back happy memories and provide a lovely sense of achievement — while most importantly, having fun together! 💕😊

We loved seeing everyone getting creative and showing off their artistic sides! 🎨

Exercise Fun! 🎈🏓

Our exercise fun this week has been full of laughs and plenty of movement! We enjoyed a game of balloon tennis 🎈🏓 followed by beanbag toss 🎯.

Today we celebrated the birthday of our wonderful resident Jean! 💕🎉

We hope Jean had a lovely day celebrating with her family and her friends here at The Firs. 🥰 To make the occasion extra special, our residents were also treated to a delicious sweet treat! 🍬

A Beautiful Moment ❤️

We just had to share this lovely moment from today! 🥰 Our lovely Brenda enjoyed brushing the hair of our resident baby doll and was so happy with the finished results. 👶💕 She took such pride in making sure the doll looked lovely!

Doll therapy can be a wonderful activity for people living with dementia. It can provide comfort, encourage nurturing and caring behaviours, support meaningful engagement and bring back memories of caring for children or family members. Most importantly, it can bring happiness and a sense of purpose. ❤️

Brenda certainly did a wonderful job! 🥰
