It's Learning Disability Week and we'd like to share The Leicester Partnership's post for people in the region who may need help and support.

Reasonable adjustments can make a big difference for people with learning disabilities and the theme 'Do you see me?' highlights the importance of recognising individual preferences, needs and experiences.

Delighted to welcome MP for Leicester East Shivani Raja MP to the Heron GP Practice to show her our Sip and Support Service.

It's a community wellbeing initiative, started by our very own Rita Blight, providing a welcoming space for people to sit down with a cuppa and talk about anything from health concerns to feelings of isolation with GPs and healthcare assistants volunteering their time to join.

She spoke to some of the people attending to learn its value for them and we'd be delighted to welcome her back anytime!🙌

Another fantastic team to tell you about as we launch a new service in Northamptonshire.

Our Night Response Service will respond to urgent care needs out of hours in the region, aiming to treat patients who don't need a hospital stay at home, for example of they've had a fall.

They can arrange follow up visits as well, providing a service that takes the pressure of East Midlands Ambulance Service and hospitals whilst giving patients the care they need.

You can find out more about the small but perfectly formed team by following this link...

Did you know Corby Urgent Treatment Centre is located on Cottingham Road and open 8am–8pm, 7 days a week? (including bank holidays)

If you need urgent care for a non-life-threatening condition, our highly skilled team can help with a range of illnesses and injuries, including suspected broken bones, sprains and strains, fevers and rashes, and access to X-rays where required.

Walk in – no appointment needed.

If your condition is less urgent, you may be offered a time to return later the same day, meaning you do not have to wait in the centre for a long period. You are still welcome to stay and wait if you prefer.

Health Advisor and Co-Chair of DHU’s MANKIND Network, Sandhir “Sandy”, is taking on a new challenge this summer as he prepares to compete in a charity white-collar boxing event in support of prostate cancer awareness and support.

The event will take place on 18 July at the New Bingley Hall, with funds raised helping people affected by prostate cancer.

Sandy said: “As Co-Chair of the MANKIND network, this is a cause that really resonates with me. We all know someone who has been affected by cancer in some way, and the funds raised through this event will go a long way in supporting people when they need it most.”

Training has already begun ahead of the official eight-week programme starting later this month, with Sandy taking on the challenge to raise awareness and support an important cause linked closely to men’s health and wellbeing.
