World Hepatitis Day 2026
Hepatitis is the inflammation of the liver, often caused by a virus or excessive alcohol consumption over an extended period of time. World Hepatitis Day is a great way of highlighting the symptoms, risk factors and treatments of the condition and reducing the stigma around it.
The hepatitis virus can be transmitted in several ways. In the dental practice, using instruments that have not been correctly cleaned and sterilised can spread Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, as well as if dental staff fail to wear correct PPE or manage sharps safely. Play your part this World Hepatitis Day and raise awareness on the importance of infection control!
