✨ “It takes a village to support a child.” 💛

That belief is at the heart of everything we do at The Nurturing Bee.

Our work is centred on relationships, trauma, emotional wellbeing, and supporting children, families, and the organisations around them.

It’s been a little quieter here recently as I’ve been navigating a personal bereavement. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. 💛

Behind the scenes, we have continued to work, support families, and prepare for the year ahead.

As we look towards the new academic year, The Nurturing Bee’s books are now open for schools, settings, and organisations across Derry, Donegal, and online. 🐝

Children don’t thrive in isolation. When the adults around them feel confident, informed, and supported, children benefit wherever they go.

Alongside one-to-one and group therapeutic work, we provide trauma-informed workshops and training for parents, educators, and professionals, sharing practical strategies that can be embedded across home, school, and community settings.

If you’re planning staff training, parent workshops, or support for your setting this academic year, we would love to hear from you and explore how we can work together to support the children and young people in your community. 💛

Instead of saying “calm down,” try:
• “I’m here with you.”
• “You’re safe.”
• “We’ll get through this together.”

These phrases are simple, practical tools that help children feel supported and understood during moments of overwhelm. 🍃

In sessions, we often integrate somatic experiencing, helping kids tune into bodily sensations and play-based approaches to make regulation accessible and engaging. 🌱

By focusing on presence, safety, and interactive strategies, children can gradually learn to manage big emotions in a way that feels contained and relational.🌈🙏

Back in the sand tray today, holding space where words aren’t always needed 🤍

Blending sand therapy with somatic experiencing, gently supporting the body to process what the mind can’t always explain. Watching stories unfold in the sand, noticing sensations, allowing nervous systems to settle and reorganise.🍃

This work is slow, grounded, and deeply powerful. Healing doesn’t have to be rushed 🌿

Celebrating Neurodiversity Week 💙♥️💜

Every child experiences the world in their own unique way and that difference is something to be understood, supported, and celebrated 💛

Neurodiversity reminds us that there is no one “right” way to think, feel, or learn. By creating safe, nurturing, and inclusive spaces, we can help children feel seen, valued, and empowered to be themselves 🧠✨

Different minds, different strengths 💛
Celebrating and supporting every child just as they are 🐝✨

Did you know Northern Ireland has one of the highest autism diagnosis rates in the UK? 🐝

At the same time, many families face long waiting times for assessment and formal support, sometimes waiting years for answers.

While that wait can feel overwhelming, support doesn’t have to stand still.
✨ Early, play-based
✨ Relationship-focused
✨ Trauma-informed support

can make a meaningful difference while families are navigating the system.

Children deserve understanding, compassion and the right support at every stage — not just after a diagnosis. 💛

Play isn’t “just play” — it’s how children make sense of the world 💛

Through therapeutic play, sand therapy, LEGO®-based therapy and other play-based approaches, children can explore emotions, experiences and relationships in ways that feel natural and safe.

Play gives children a voice when words are hard to find — supporting emotional regulation, confidence, and connection as they grow 🌱✨

💛 Children’s Mental Health Week 💛

This week highlights the importance of early support for children’s mental health.

Around 75% of mental health difficulties begin before the age of 18, which is why compassionate, early intervention matters so much.

Personalised one-to-one therapeutic support, tailored to each child’s unique needs, helps nurture emotional awareness, regulation, and resilience from a young age 🌱

Every child deserves to feel safe, understood, and supported . At The Nurturing Bee, we believe early, nurturing support helps young minds thrive 🐝💛🐝

Recent research highlights the growing need for emotional wellbeing support for children and young people across Northern Ireland.

• Around 1 in 8 children and young people experience emotional difficulties such as anxiety or depression.

• Emotional wellbeing challenges are reported at higher rates in Northern Ireland compared to other parts of the UK and Ireland.

• Research has also shown that 45.2% of 16-year-olds in Northern Ireland show signs of probable mental ill-health, with wellbeing declining as young people get older.

These statistics highlight why early, compassionate and child-centred emotional support is so important 💛

At The Nurturing Bee, therapeutic, play-based and trauma-informed approaches help children safely explore emotions, build regulation skills and develop resilience at their own pace.

Early support can make a meaningful difference to a child’s confidence, relationships and long-term wellbeing 🐝

If you are concerned about your child’s emotional wellbeing, you are not alone — support is available.
