***Update 13/01/22 we are particularly keen to recruit participants who had to visit hospital as a result of COVID-19***
We are doing research on how long immune protection from the virus lasts and how long symptoms ( ) persist after infection by the virus that causes COVID-19 in the local population.
The research is taking place at the NI Centre for Stratified Medicine (based in the C-TRIC building) on the Altnagelvin Hospital site in Derry/Londonderry. The study is looking for anybody aged over 18 that had or currently has PCR confirmed COVID-19 and would be able to provide a 30 ml blood sample and a saliva sample on two occasions: a) between 28-30 days post positive PCR test and b) 3 months post positive PCR.
All potential participants will continue to be required to complete the recommended period of isolation after a positive COVID-19 test and will be called to attend an in person appointment at earliest 28 days after a positive COVID-19 test.
Criteria we are looking for:
• Male or female.
• Age 18yrs or above.
• Any BMI.
• Any ethnic origin
• Has received a COVID-19 positive PCR test within the last 30 days.
• Would be able to provide samples at: a) 28-30 days after positive PCR test and, b) follow up samples at 3 months after positive PCR test.
