This heat isn’t just uncomfortable – it can seriously affect your energy, performance, recovery and overall health.
A few simple tips from the team at PURE GRIT:
💧 Drink water BEFORE you’re thirsty.
Aim for regular sips throughout the day rather than trying to play catch-up.
🧂 Replace electrolytes.
If you’re sweating heavily, water alone isn’t always enough. Consider electrolyte tablets, coconut water or adding a pinch of salt to meals.
🥗 Eat lighter meals.
Think fruit, salads, yoghurt, lean proteins and foods with high water content such as watermelon, cucumber and berries.
☀️ Wear sunscreen.
Even on cloudy days. Sunburn increases dehydration and puts extra stress on your body.
🏋️ Adjust your training.
It’s OK to reduce intensity, take longer rest periods or train earlier/later in the day.
🐶 Don’t forget your pets.
Cool water, shade and avoid hot pavements.
👵 Extra care for older adults, menopausal women, children and those with medical conditions. Heat can affect you faster than you think.
⚠️ Seek help if you experience dizziness, confusion, nausea, severe headache or stop sweating despite feeling overheated.
