Change Grow Live - Kirklees

Change Grow Live - Kirklees Free & confidential service in Kirklees, who help support people for their drug or/and alcohol use. In 2000 we became part of the Lifeline Project.

Our IPS team have their own page, follow the link below to stay up to date with our Employment Support:
https://www.facebook.com/CGLkirkleesIPS Every year, Lifeline Kirklees works with hundreds of people who have problems with drugs or alcohol in supporting them to change their behaviour and achieve their recovery goals. We provide help for individuals, families and communities throughout

Kirklees who have been affected by substance misuse. Our drug and alcohol services started in 1985 as a small organisation called Unit 51. A range of alcohol and drug services are available in Kirklees through our support centres in Huddersfield and Dewsbury town centres as well as in some GP surgeries and health centres. Both of our centres are easily accessible by public transport and have wheelchair accessibility. We provide an evening service on Tuesdays for those who work during the day and we also work with people who may find it difficult to come into the service at all, perhaps due to mental or physical health issues, through working with them in their home or in the community.

That is over 16,000 families left grieving a loved one.

Our thoughts are with everyone remembering a loved one today. 💜

Several blue tablets, which look like Diazepam tablets. The tablets are Pale blue/blue circular tablets marked with “10” on one side and “DAN 5620” on the other, with a half score down the middle separating Dan and 5620.

The tablets have tested positive for N-Desethylisotonitazene (with this being the only substance identified), which is a nitazene compound. Nitazene substances significantly increase the risk of overdose and serious harm. Nitazenes are an extremely potent synthetic opioid and can be similar in strength to fentanyl.

Signs of Overdose
Loss of consciousness, shallow, rasping, irregular, or no breathing, snoring or gurgling sounds, blue lips.

Naloxone Advice
Free kits are available from Change Grow Live. Administer a dose of naloxone and call 999 immediately. Multiple doses may be required to reverse the effects of synthetic opioids.

Know the Risks
You cannot tell what is in a drug just by looking at it—even if it seems familiar.

1. Drug supplies vary — test first. What you buy may not be what you’re told it is - start with a small test dose.

2. Do not use alone. Always use with someone you trust who can spot the signs and call for help.

3. Look out for your mates. Watch for signs of overdose and if in doubt, call 999 immediately.

4. Naloxone: get it, carry it, use it. Naloxone does not work on Ketamine, but it does work if opioids are involved. If someone collapses, give Naloxone and call an ambulance.

5. Recovery position saves lives. Check breathing, clear the airway, and put the person in the recovery position while waiting for help.

6. Consider drug treatment. Treatment reduces overdose risk and provides ongoing health support.

If you or someone else becomes ill:

• Call 999 immediately and be honest about what has been taken

• Administer naloxone if available

For advice about drugs, or to access free testing kits or free Naloxone (no need to be currently engaged with the service), contact Change Grow Live Kirklees – 01484 353333

Today marks the start of Alcohol Awareness Week and this year’s theme is alcohol and me.

Everyone’s relationship with alcohol is different. From sport, TV, and music to supermarkets, sunny weekends, and everyday celebrations, a lot of our social lives are based around or include alcohol, without us even noticing.

It can be easy to get swept away in celebrations or sitting in a beer garden on the weekends, especially now we’re entering the summer months.
