To assist your body and to fully complete your balanced diet, many people supplement with daily vitamins. However, when you do a quick search on a trusted providers website you will see a vast selection to choose from. So what is best?

Below is 5 vitamins that will benefit you!

Vitamin D - This particular vitamin is difficult to get through our food. We will get vitamin D through sunlight, however, with the English climate there is a large amount of the population who are deficient in this vitamin.

This vitamin will keep our bones strong and dense.

Magnesium - Magnesium is a mineral that is essential to your body’s function. This will keep your bones healthy and keep the blood pressure down. Magnesium will also help to reduce fatigue and tiredness.

Magnesium can be found in nuts, green leaf vegetables, bread, meat, fish and dairy products.

Vitamin C - Vitamin C has an important role in helping to protect cells and keeping them healthy, maintaining healthy skin, blood vessels, bones and cartilage.

Vitamin C is widely found in any healthy and balanced diet, mostly from a variety of fruits and vegetables.

Zinc -Zinc is a key nutrient that plays several functions in your body. Zinc is responsible for the activity of several enzymes that aid with healthy digestion, nerve function, and metabolism.

Zinc is easily found in both plant and animal-based foods. Good sources of zinc include meat, shellfish, dairy foods, bread and cereal products.

Calcium - Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body and it is famously known for its benefits in supporting bone health. About 99% of the body’s calcium is in the bones and teeth, playing a crucial role in building and maintaining strong bones. Alongside this, your heart, muscles and nerves also need calcium to function properly.

According to the British Dietetic Association, you’re more at risk of developing calcium deficiency if you are on a dairy or lactose free diet, or have osteoporosis.

Most of us are likely to know of someone that has suffered a whiplash injury at one point in life. Now you would probably think that this is just related to car accidents, but you can get whiplash injuries in many other ways too.

Any activity that causes a forceful movement of the head backwards and forwards will cause a whiplash injury. This will lead to tightness and discomfort throughout the muscles in the neck and shoulders.

Whiplash is often a slow burner. Unlike a fracture or a bruise you won't necessarily be at your highest pain levels straight away. Usually, a few days post injury is when the true discomfort is likely to kick in.

There are several ways to help ease the discomfort in your muscles. The main 2 that we would actively recommend are as follows...

Use of Heat - this will help to reduce to the discomfort felt in the muscles. It will also reduce some of the initial tightness too.

Massage - A qualified therapist will vary their pressure to get the best results. Reducing tightness and discomfort, increasing range of motion and helping you to get pain free quicker.

Why do we warm-up and cool down before physical activity? Is it going to benefit you or just consume extra time?

In the past we have always been told that a warm-up is going to reduce our risk of injury and should be 10-15 minutes in length. But why?

Ultimately, we don't need to do a prolonged warm-up prior to exercise to reduce the risk of injury. However, psychologically it will prepare us for the activity ahead. But it doesn't need to be an excessively long, drawn out task.

The best way to mentally and physically prepare for an activity is to complete the specific movements that you are likely to encounter at a low intensity.

For example, if you are going for a run start off building up from a steady walk into a brisk walk, then into a light jog until you feel comfortable going at your pace. The same can happen when lifting weights. Complete the exercise with low resistance, this will prepare you for what you have planned.

Then the cool down...

Have you been told to do a cool down to stop you from feeling the sore in the days after exercise? Yeah that won't work. If you are going to have muscle soreness having a light stretch after the exercise isn't going to change that! Save your time!
