✨ Massage Moments / Table Wisdom ✨

One of the things I love most about my work is the wonderful people I get to meet and the conversations we share.

Sometimes, alongside the massage, we talk about life, love, challenges, funny moments, dreams and everything in between. Some conversations are simply lovely, while others leave you thinking long after the session has finished.

Today, Laura was kind enough to share some of her own table wisdom — a little glimpse into her mindset and competing.

So I’ve started calling these little moments “Massage Moments” — those snippets of conversation, thoughts and wisdom shared, relaxed, open and completely themselves.

Hopefully in the future I can do more like this.

✔️ Control the pressure – Lean against a wall or lie on the floor. Only use as much body weight as feels comfortable. Stay relaxed—don’t tense up.

✔️ Find the tight spot – Roll slowly until you locate a tender area or muscle knot.

✔️ Breathe & hold – Pause on that spot for 30–60 seconds. Take slow, deep breaths and let the muscle gradually soften.

✔️ Add gentle movement – Slowly move the nearby joint or limb while holding pressure to encourage a deeper release.

⚠️ Keep these safety tips in mind:
• Avoid pressing directly on bones, joints, your spine, or ribs.
• If you feel sharp, shooting, or electric pain, move the ball immediately.
• Mild discomfort is okay—severe pain means you’re using too much pressure or this technique isn’t right for that injury.

Move slowly, breathe deeply, and let the tissue do the work

I’m glad I could offer some relief

Sleep, hydration, and good nutrition are the foundation of healing.

When you give your body enough rest, keep it well hydrated, and fuel it with the nutrients it needs, you create the best environment for repairing tissue, reducing inflammation, and getting back to doing what you love.

Don’t underestimate the basics. they’re often the biggest game changers in injury recovery.

Recovery can be really frustrating. It’s not linear. But I am someone who has recovered from many types of traumatic injury. Including an elbow dislocation, a disk buldge and stenosis impingement on my sciatic nerve . as cheesy as a sounds, when I say I know how you feel, I know it’s not the same. But I understand how you feel.

Recovery is the key to adaptation. It comes in many forms, but one thing stays the same: it should be built into your training plan, not treated as an afterthought. Prioritising recovery helps your body adapt, perform, and stay consistent. Ignore it, and you increase your risk of overtraining, burnout, and overuse injuries. Train hard…but recover just as intentionally.

A snapshot of just some of the people I’ve had the pleasure of helping this week.

From supporting injury recovery and providing maintenance massage, to pre-event tune-ups for those preparing to perform, every treatment is tailored to the individual.

I also worked with an office-based client struggling with persistent back and neck pain. Rather than simply massaging where it hurts, I focus on identifying and treating the underlying cause of the problem to help achieve longer-lasting results.

Every client has different goals, and it’s always rewarding to help them move, feel, and perform at their best.

Pain doesn’t always mean damage—and damage doesn’t always mean pain.

Pain is your body’s protective alarm system. Sometimes it’s accurate, and sometimes it becomes overprotective, sounding the alarm even when there’s no ongoing tissue damage. On the other hand, it’s possible to have tissue damage with very little or even no pain at all.

Understanding this difference can be empowering. It helps explain why persistent pain doesn’t necessarily mean your body is “broken,” and why recovery is about more than just letting tissues heal.

Knowledge reduces fear. Movement builds confidence. Recovery is possible. đź’™
