We had a wonderful Summer Fair on 14th July, with our newly decorated garden filled with people enjoying the sunshine. Those living at our home were joined by their families and friends, our staff, and some lovely visitors from next door. We are incredibly fortunate to be part of such a vibrant community and to have opportunities like this to come together, make memories, and enjoy the summer weather while it lasts. โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒผ

The festivities began with music and a delicious barbecue, where our kitchen team served up freshly prepared burgers and hot dogs. We also held a bake sale featuring an irresistible selection of sweet treats, including chocolate brownies, cornflake and rice crispy cakes, chocolate chip cookies, double chocolate muffins, and lamington slices. The effort our kitchen staff put into the day was outstanding, and the food was thoroughly enjoyed by all. ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿฐ

Our Head Chef, Steve, added an extra touch of fun by running a cocktail and mocktail stand, creating a variety of refreshing drinks for everyone to enjoy. ๐Ÿน

We were also delighted to welcome the brilliant Samantha Jones, who treated us to a wonderful performance. Her fantastic selection of songs had the whole garden singing, dancing, and joining in, helping to create a truly joyful atmosphere. ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ’ƒ

A special moment of the afternoon was coming together to sing Happy Birthday to our very own Brian as he celebrated his 82nd birthday. ๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‰

To round off the event, we held a raffle and announced the lucky winners of five fantastic prizes, ending the day on a real high.
Events like these are so important in bringing people together, creating connections, and celebrating the sense of community that means so much to us. A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped make the day such a success, and to all those who attended and filled our home with energy, laughter, and happiness. ๐Ÿซถโค๏ธ

In preparation for our summer fair, we have freshly planted flowers and have been pruning and watering them where we can.

Here are some pictures of Shirley joining in with this process and having a lovely gentle gardening session with Lifestyle assistant Chinnu. These activities are a great way to get out and enjoy some fresh air, whilst engaging in an activity that is familiar. ๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒป

In this weeks Gardening Club, we planted some wildflower seeds and easy growers that were replanted in our garden in preparation for our Summer Fair. Our green-fingered gardening club attendees chatted about the upcoming fair and our love of gardening. ๐ŸŒณ

We each picked seeds we liked the look of most and reminisced about our favourite flowers and what our gardens have looked like in the past. ๐Ÿƒ

These sessions help us maintain the bond we have with each other in the home and allow us to be creative, whilst doing an activity that feels familiar and comforting, ๐ŸŒป

At the beginning of this month we took a joint trip out to the Manchester Science and Industry Museum with Bowerfield Court.

Our residents Graham and Phil had a great time learning the history of some of these integral scientific advancements and industries that are embedded in the history of Manchester. We also enjoyed snacks and drinks in front of one of the functioning vintage trains!

Celebrating National Picnic Day in Style! ๐Ÿงบ

Our Regional Lifestyle Support Manager, Simi, recently brought together the care homes she supports for a wonderful regional picnic to celebrate National Picnic Day.

Residents, staff, and family members from Allingham House, Manorhey, Bowerfield Court, Bowerfield House, Cavendish Court, Hope Green, The Belvedere, and Carmel Lodge all gathered at Tatton Park for a fantastic day of fun, friendship, and fresh air.

Everyone enjoyed a delicious picnic lunch surrounded by the beautiful parkland before taking a leisurely stroll in the glorious sunshine. It was a wonderful opportunity for residents from different homes to socialise, make new connections, and create special memories together.

A huge thank you to Simi for organising such a successful event and to everyone who attended and helped make the day so enjoyable. Days like these highlight the importance of community, companionship, and making the most of every opportunity to enjoy life outdoors.
