On Monday morning one of our Suffolk bearers, Charlie, took part in his 1000th funeral since joining in 2020.

In those 6 years Charlie has been to
⛪103 different churches
💚8 different crematoriums
🌳3 different woodland burial sites
and supported (as all our bearers do) thousands of family members, and he's not done yet! 😊

We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who came to see us at our Teddy Tombola yesterday at the Diss Carnival, and to those who kindly donated soft toys to be rehomed, our colleagues who ran the stand (and Diss Town Council for placing us next to Brownie and the Bean 😁)

Thanks to you, we raised over £200 🥳for Waveney SHIMS, Suffolk Help in MS, we couldn't do it without you!
Thank you! 🥰

🌈We understand that being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community can bring additional challenges. These can be made harder during a bereavement where you may not be sure whether you can be open and honest at an emotional time for fear of judgement or being treated differently.

The staff at Rosedale are professionally trained to the highest of standards, with the majority having undertaken specialist training provided by Norfolk Lgbtq+ Project and our colleagues are all dedicated to carrying out our duties with integrity, respect and care.

If you have any questions please do no hesitate to contact us.

As volunteers week draws to a close here's a little celebration of some of the amazing work that we've noticed volunteers doing to support the bereaved in our communities and how we've tried to help.

The Pear Tree Fund in Halesworth have been running Cooking for One sessions and Simon dropped in to sign the recipe books and meet some of the group.

Lucy Coote and Anne Beckett-Allen delivered some training in Loss and Grief through the Norfolk Community Foundation Skills Exchange, and idea that came about after joining their Good for Good scheme. We trained volunteers from a cross section of charities including Age UK Norfolk and Hope into Action Norwich.

Yesterday, Anne popped down to meet Caroline at the Citizens Advice Diss, Thetford and District who were celebrating all their wonderful volunteers and chat through ideas for working together to support the bereaved.

Volunteers really do seem to make the world go round at the moment and it's a sobering thought to think where our communities would be without them.

🫑 Recipe of the Month Donald’s Stuffed Peppers 🫑

Taken from our Cooking for One book, this comforting recipe is part of a unique collection of dishes and stories written by the bereaved, offering wisdom, insight, love and hope.

“Fundamentally, my time spent in the kitchen has not changed at all. I did the cooking for the last 29 to 30 years of our marriage and therefore know my way around that department. However, I find my diet has changed in many subtle ways and still find it difficult to prepare portions for one rather than two people. Freezing the surplus is not my preferred option, but occasionally I do so after preparing meals such as curries.”
