Sometimes, getting an autism diagnosis isn’t the end of the journey, it’s the beginning of understanding what you need to thrive.

After recently receiving his autism diagnosis, Shaun came to Stride for support. Like many people, he found himself asking an important question… what comes next?

For Shaun, that meant taking some time away from work to better understand himself, his strengths, and what he needed from his next role.

Our role was to get to know Shaun as an individual and understand what the right working environment would look like for him.

"From my first meeting with Mykell, where we talked through my ambitions and what I was looking for, the whole process felt straightforward and supportive. Stride took the time to understand me as a person before introducing me to Pass Logistics, and from the interview through to starting work, everything ran really smoothly.” - Shaun.

We’re incredibly proud to have supported Shaun into a role with local company Pass Logistics and, honestly, what a result!

Shaun has settled into his role brilliantly and is absolutely smashing it, but the support hasn’t stopped there.

“Every three weeks we catch up with Mykell to review progress, set new goals and discuss how we can continue supporting Shaun from a neurodivergent perspective. Having that ongoing partnership has been invaluable and has given us confidence that we're providing the right support as Shaun continues to develop within the business.” - Alex, Job Coach at Pass Logistics.

“This is the first time I've genuinely enjoyed going to work. I feel understood, trusted and valued, and I'm able to focus on what I do best without feeling micromanaged. It's made a huge difference to both my confidence and my enjoyment of work. I feel understood, trusted and valued.” - Shaun

That’s exactly what we want every person we support to feel in the workplace.

A huge well done to Shaun for taking that next step, and to Pass Logistics for creating an environment where he can be himself, play to his strengths, and thrive. 👏

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Alanna to Stride for a week of work experience! 💙

During her time with us, Alanna had the opportunity to experience different areas of Stride, from coaching and employment support, to media, and everything that happens behind the scenes.

She spent a lot of time with our Coaching Team, gaining a first-hand insight into how personalised routines and practical strategies can support clients in building independence and confidence.

She also joined our Media Team for a day, learning more about content creation, editing, and social media, and how these play an important role in raising awareness and connecting people with the support available.

And, of course, we couldn’t let the week go by without getting Alanna involved in one of our brilliant badminton sessions! 🏸

It was fantastic to have Alanna with us, and we’re so pleased that her week gave her the opportunity to explore her future aspirations while developing her understanding of neurodiversity.

A huge thank you to Alanna for spending the week with us, we loved having you! ☺️💙

We’re over the moon to officially introduce Stride’s Alternative Provision & Supported Internship Programme!!

Our purpose-built programme is for neurodivergent young people aged 16–25 with an EHCP who may need an alternative to traditional education.

We’re initially welcoming just 12 learners, allowing us to maintain the highly person-centred approach at the heart of Stride. With spaces intentionally limited, every learner will receive the time, support and attention they need to thrive.

From our environment and facilities to our learning framework, staffing, activities and wider opportunities, everything has been carefully designed around the people we support. Our aim is simple: to help neurodivergent young people achieve their best outcomes while feeling safe, understood, supported and able to enjoy the journey.

Come along to our first Open Day, taking place on Wednesday, 19th August and discover what Stride has to offer. There’s no set arrival time, so you’re welcome to drop in at any point between 9AM and 5PM! ☺️

You’ll have the opportunity to:
👉 Explore the provision and our purpose-built environment
👉 See how our spaces have been designed and set up
👉 Find out more about the programme and what we’ll be delivering
👉 Meet our team, including our incredible Lead Tutor, Olivia
👉 Ask questions and discuss whether the programme could be right for you or someone you support
👉 Enjoy a free drink from Scene at Stride

This is a chance to see the provision, meet the team and get a feel for Stride before we officially open our doors to learners.

Photography Club is all about getting our clients out and about, meeting new people, building confidence, developing their photography skills, and most importantly, having fun. It was the perfect opportunity to enjoy the sunshine while capturing some fantastic shots in a beautiful setting.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, we can't wait for the next one! 📷

Since joining Stride, GH has grown so much in confidence and continues to make fantastic progress.

She has developed a real interest in skincare, so Coach Lisa arranged for her to attend a skincare workshop at Lush. This has given her the opportunity to learn more about something she genuinely enjoys while also building her independence and confidence in a new environment.

GH recently enjoying a well-deserved pamper session, and it’s wonderful to see her embracing new experiences and developing her self-care skills. We are all so proud of how far she has come and look forward to seeing her confidence continue to grow.

Client CD had discovered that a new retro arcade had recently opened in Balby, Doncaster, and had been keen to visit for the past month. Coach Dan and CD recently had the opportunity to go together and enjoy a fun session, giving CD a chance to step away from their usual routine for a couple of hours and do something different.

CD is currently awaiting a job interview coming up very soon, so this outing provided the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind, and blow off some steam in the meantime.
