I’ve spent 17 years doing one thing — helping children with complex needs move more and live more independently. I’ve worked across the NHS, published research, and built PT Kids from the ground up because I believed families deserved more.

I’m also a husband, a dad, and a semi-professional rugby union referee who’s run out at Twickenham. I know what it means to commit to something completely — and I bring that same commitment to every child I work with.

I presented this to a room full of parents at the CSS Conference last week. The reaction told me I needed to put it on here.

It’s the sensory motor loop and it’s the reason your child moves the way they do.

There are four parts to the sensory motor loop. Four parts that run continuously in your child’s nervous system — and when they’re all working together, movement becomes more efficient, more controlled, more automatic.

When they’re not — your child works twice as hard just to keep up.
