🚶🏼‍♀️🗣Walk and Talk - Tuesday 11th August🚶🏾‍♀️🗣
The Health Visiting Perinatal Wellbeing team are leading walks for local parents in Conisbrough and at Lakeside, Doncaster each month during the summer.

August Walks
Tuesday 11th August - Conisbrough trans Pennine trail, meeting, DN12 4EA at the entrance to PGL Dearne valley (old earth centre) at 1pm until 2.30pm
Tuesday 25th August - Lakeside Lake, Doncaster DN4 5PL meeting at the fountains 1pm .2.30pm.
Whether you’re a mum, friend, a family member, or simply someone who cares, you’re warmly invited
What to expect -
A walk suitable for all
A chance to connect with other parents/carers in the community
Open conversations to break the stigma around maternal mental health
Fresh air and support

Yesterday was National Play Day

What is play and why is play so important for children?
When children play, they engage their imagination, problem-solving skills, and creativity. Play helps them navigate social interactions, take turns, negotiate, and cooperate. They also learn about storytelling.
Active play is good for developing motor skills and hand-eye coordination, as well as improving fitness.

All families are welcome to join us on Friday 7th August between 10.30am and 4pm at Sandal Park (near the play area)
Bring a picnic blanket, your own picnic and a drink.

Today is National Play Day! 🤸

Play helps children learn, grow and thrive. Today, we're celebrating the everyday moments of play that make a big difference to children's health, happiness and wellbeing.

Your baby tells you they are hungry by:
👶Bobbing their head; turning & opening their mouth
👊Wriggling/clenching fists
🫲Putting their hands near their face or chewing fingers
🫦Licking their lips, opening & closing their mouth, making suckling noises
Crying is often a late sign of hunger. Look for other hunger cues so you can put your baby to the breast while they are calm and ready to feed.

This week is and with the warmer weather continuing you may want to check out The Breastfeeding Network (UK) advice for breastfeeding in the heat!

🌞In hot weather, your baby may want to feed more often or for longer than usual.
🌞If they're under 6 months and exclusively breastfed, there's no need to give any additional water - just feed on demand to keep them hydrated and make sure you're getting plenty of fluids yourself.
🌞Your body will generally continue producing enough milk for your baby's demand (except if you get extremely dehydrated), but keep on top of your water and ice lolly intake for your own wellbeing!
🌞Babies over 6 months who have started eating solid foods should be offered water in a cup with meals, and throughout the day in hot weather.

Nursery applications for September 2027 are now live

The national closing date is Tuesday 6 October 2026, and the announcement date is Friday 6 November 2026.

All applications made by this date will be considered together.

Applications for all community schools, academies and church schools should be made online using the following webpage by clicking on the “Apply now for a Nursery place for Sept 2027 - July 2028” button.
