What an absolutely incredible and proud morning for everyone at Bennfield House! 💙✨

Today we had the enormous privilege of welcoming Mr William McHugh MBE DL, Deputy Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, Lindsay Meeks and Michelle Raddings senior leaders from the Royal College of Nursing, together with colleagues, partners and, most importantly, our residents.

Today was an opportunity to showcase the work taking place at Bennfield around our Social Care Advanced Practitioner pilot and to open an important conversation: Social Care Advanced Practitioners… the way to the future?

Having such respected guests from the Royal College of Nursing here at Bennfield, listening to our experiences, engaging with our team and discussing the future of nursing within social care, was incredibly special.

We could not be prouder of Matron Penny Bennett, our entire Bennfield team and everyone who has contributed to this journey. Today demonstrated what can happen when social care is given the opportunity to innovate, develop its nursing workforce and challenge traditional ways of working.

And at the centre of everything were our residents. ❤️ This is their home, and everything we are trying to achieve ultimately comes back to providing them with the very best care, opportunities and outcomes.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and made today such a success.

🌟 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH – MANDY! 🌟

A massive congratulations to Mandy, who has been chosen as our Employee of the Month by her fellow team members! 💜👏

Being recognised by the people you work alongside every day makes this one extra special. Mandy is always kind, caring and willing to help, and her dedication to our residents and support for her colleagues certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Congratulations to our very own Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Nicola Bindley. Nicola was informed this morning that she will receive the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse, awarded by the Queen’s Institute for community nursing, in recognition of her high standards of patient care, learning and leadership.

Nicola will join our nursing team permanently at the end the pilot ‘Social Care Advanced Practitioners….the way to the future’.

I am so proud , and we are incredibly lucky to have Nicola as part of the Bennfield House team.

🌟 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH – KERRY! 🌟

This month’s Employee of the Month, chosen by her colleagues, is our wonderful Kerry! 👏

Kerry first came to Bennfield House on a college placement… and quite simply, we loved her so much that she never left! 😂💚

Now a valued member of our Domestic Team, Kerry comes to work with a smile, works incredibly hard and brings so much happiness to Bennfield House. She is loved by residents and colleagues alike and the fact that her own colleagues chose her for this award says everything about the person she is. 🥰

At Bennfield, we truly believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to shine. There should be no barriers to being part of a team, developing your skills and finding a workplace where you belong. 💚

Kerry is a perfect example of that. She has grown in confidence, found her place within our Bennfield family and, most importantly, she is happy and we are incredibly lucky to have her.

🏗️😂 BENNFIELD ARCHIVES – WE JUST KEPT ADDING!

When you’re one of the first nursing homes around, you build THE BEST reputation and suddenly realise… we’re going to need a bit more room! 😂❤️

So what did Bennfield do?

We added a bit… then another bit… then apparently thought, “go on then, we’ll have another bit!” 🤣🏗️

Over the years Bennfield has grown and changed around the people who live here. If we needed more space, we made more space – simple as that!

And eagle-eyed followers may notice something else making another appearance… 👀🚲

THE BIKE IS BACK! 😂😂

At this point we’re starting to think the bike has worked at Bennfield longer than half of us! 🤣

Over 40 years later, plenty has changed, plenty has been added… but putting our residents first has always stayed exactly the same. ❤️🏡

😂☀️ BENNFIELD ARCHIVES – LUXURY OUTDOOR LIVING… 1990s STYLE! ☀️😂

Welcome to the Bennfield House Quadrangle… complete with white plastic garden furniture and what can only be described as a seaside brolly that had clearly taken a wrong turn at Cleethorpes! 😂🏖️

Now, was it the comfiest furniture in the world? Absolutely not. 🤣
Did you need assistance getting back out of those chairs once you’d sunk into one? Quite possibly. 😂
But did that plastic furniture last approximately 4,000 years?! ABSOLUTELY! 👏😂

By gum, they knew how to make garden furniture back then! You could leave it out all winter, pressure wash it once every five years and it would come back looking brand new. Nowadays we buy something in May and by August one of the legs is wobbling! 🤦‍♂️😂

And just look at our little quadrangle! 🌸❤️ Plenty of flowers, sunshine and somewhere for our residents to sit outside and enjoy the weather.

Who remembers sitting out here? And more importantly… does anyone know what happened to the legendary plastic chairs?! 😂

😂🚌 BENNFIELD ARCHIVES – ONLY AT BENNFIELD! 🚌😂

Have a VERY close look at this old photo… 👀

Notice anything about where the bus stop used to be? Right outside Bennfield! 😂

Now, you might think having a bus stop right outside would be rather convenient… apparently not when a great big bus keeps pulling up and blocking our residents’ view! 🤣🤣

So what did Bennfield do?

Ask the residents to put up with it? ❌
Close the curtains? ❌
Tell them the bus will be gone in a minute? ❌

NOPE… WE HAD THE BUS STOP MOVED! 😂👏🚌➡️

And if that doesn’t sum Bennfield up, we don’t know what does! 💚

Our residents come first and apparently that includes having an uninterrupted view out of the window! 😂

Whatever our residents want or need, we’ll do our very best to make it happen… and that’s been the Bennfield way since the very beginning, over 40 years ago. 🏡💚

Who remembers the bus stop being there?! 👀 And more importantly… does anyone remember the battle to get it moved?! 😂

🌟 EMPLOYEES OF THE MONTH – BECKY & BERNADETTE 🌟 READ THIS 👇

This month, we wanted to recognise two very special members of our Bennfield House family – Becky & Bernadette! 💐

Becky joined Bennfield House on 5th September 2011 and has now been with us for an amazing nearly 15 YEARS! 🥹👏

Bernadette joined us on 28th October 2015 and has given us an incredible nearly 11 YEARS of dedication and service. 💕

Between them, that’s over 25 YEARS at Bennfield House! 🤯

Over all those years they have cared for so many residents, supported countless families, worked alongside so many colleagues and seen Bennfield House change and grow but one thing that hasn’t changed is their commitment to the people who call Bennfield House home.

Long standing members of our team like Becky and Bernadette are a huge part of what makes Bennfield House what it is. The knowledge, experience and memories they have built up over the years simply can’t be replaced.

So this month’s recognition is a massive THANK YOU to you both. 🌟

Thank you for the years you’ve given to Bennfield House, for everything you continue to do for our residents and for being such an important part of our team.
